Flogging Molly is a band started by Dave King in Los Angeles in 1997. King spent his childhood in Dublin, and the band claims traditional Irish roots mixed with an obvious punk rock influence. In their early years, Flogging Molly were regulars at Molly Malone's, a local bar in Los Angeles. They have recorded seven projects including a DVD documentary with CD soundtrack titled Whiskey on a Sunday. They received national attention in 2005 when their song ,The Worst Day Since Yesterday, was used in the soundtrack of a major film, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Joline. Approximately two years later they were back on the national stage when they played a concert in Philadelphia with Dropkick Murphys, another band with a distinctly Irish/Punk reputation.http://www.floggingmolly.com/ In recent news, The Worst Day Since Yesterday was once again chosen as soundtrack material, this time at both the beginning and end of Stargate Universe's ninth episode, Life.http://blogs.chron.com/tubular/archives/2009/11/stargate_univer_6.html
