Flavor Point Diet

Categories: Health | Diets
  • The Flavor Point Diet was created by Dr. David Katz, a medical contributor on ABC's Good Morning America. Katz, who also teaches at Yale University, maintains that eating different flavors stimulates the appetite. The diet is based on his theory that by organizing the flavors eaten over the course of a day, appetite can be suppressed and a dieter can be satisfied with less food.
  • Phase 1

During the first four weeks, each day will have a specific flavor theme. Cranberry, pineapple, and lemon are three of the flavor themes used during Phase 1.
  • Phase 2

In Phase 2, which lasts two weeks, the flavors are organized by meal. This permits the dieter a bit more variety during the day.
  • Phase 3

After six weeks, the dieter puts what they've learned into practice. Katz maintains that the skills that were taught in the first two phases will allow the dieter to continue to lose weight until they reach their goal.ABC: The Flavor Point Diet (January 10, 2006)
