  • A flat iron is a piece of equipment used to straighten the hair. It uses heat to change the structure of the hair. Flat irons may contain a comb on the panels, assisting to straighten and de-tangle the hair. Modern day flat irons commonly contain ceramic heating elements, which allow for a more constant heat. Flat irons are available in a variety of sizes, from extremely thin to more than two inches in width.
