Flashpoint is a television series that takes place in Canada and focuses on the elite Strategic Response Unit (SRU) police force in Toronto. It was inspired by the real Toronto police force's emergency Task Force. The plot revolves around the unit's attempts to rescue hostages, bust gangs, defuse bombs and solve other difficult cases.
Flashpoint was written and created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern. This series was originally made for a Canadian audience only, but CBS purchased the rights to broadcast the series in America.
The cast includes Enrico Colantoni, Hugh Dillon and David Paetkau. The series will premiere on CBS in July 2008.
