• Because of their shape, USB flash drives are often called "fishsticks"
    • Normally re-writable and removable
    • USB flash drives are between 64 MB and 32 GB
  • A flash drive is a computer component used to store information with little or no moving parts. They use flash memory to store data. Flash drives provide a more reliable mode of portable storage because they are more durable, compact and faster than floppy disks. Many newer computers are sold without a floppy drive, but with multiple USB drives, allowing the usage of flash drives for storing data externally. Flash drives have up to one million write or erase cycles and approximately a ten-year data retention. In order to transfer files to a flash drive, you must first plug the drive into the host computer, normally via USB and then click and drag files to that appropriate drive under 'My Computer'.
