Flan, also known as Créme Caramel, is a dessert made with custard and caramel. The caramel on the top of flan is soft, unlike crème brulée which has a hard caramel topping.

How to Make Flan
- Place one pan inside of another, ensuring there is enough room between the two for water covering the entire area the flan will be.
- Place only the egg yolks in a bowl.
- Add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- In a saucepan, place sugar and heat on low.
- Continually stir and keep the sugar moving to ensure it does not burn. Continue to heat the sugar until it is fully melted.
- Immediately pour the melted sugar into the flan pan. Place in the refrigerator to cool.
- After fully cooled, pour the flan mixture on top of the sugar.
- Place the flan pan in another pan of water and cook at 350 degrees for just over an hour.
- After cooking, remove from oven and flip the pan over onto a serving dish. The flan will be covered in a brown, gooey caramel.
