What Is an Antivirus?
Antivirus software protects your computer from viruses and malicious software you may come across while browsing the internet. Antivirus programs have various features and tools used to protect against and destroy viruses. Which Antivirus Should I Use?
There are many antivirus software programs to choose from. When deciding, look for a program that has the features and functions you want. Some things to consider are:
- Is the software free or paid?
- Does it give real-time protection?
- Does it need to be connected to the internet in order to work?
- Does it contain a firewall?
- Are there parental controls or web filters?
- How much memory does it use on the computer?
- Does it automatically scan for viruses, or do you have to do manual scans?
- How often is it updated?
Sean suggests the following antivirus programs:
- Malwarebytes (free and "Pro" version)
- Panda Cloud
- Trend Micro
- AVG
- Norton (paid)
- McAfee (paid)
