A fireplace is an architectural structure to help keep fire inside a small area for heat, cooking and fine looks. That “area” is referred to a firebox or a firepit. A fireplace also requires a chimney, for the gas or smoke can escape through the house. A well built fireplace is a central household feature, and helps relax people while the cracking and flames of the fire fill throughout the house. A fireplace is the main focus point for the interior design of a house.

In 1678 Prince Rupert helped design fireplaces, which at the time was an open fireplace. Throughout the years fireplaces have become more advanced with better airflow and venting systems. During the modern era, open fireplaces are becoming more extinct. Central heating or electric heaters are becoming more popular for safety reasons and simpler ways.

Types of Fireplaces

There are many types of fireplaces that people can choose from. One for example would be the Masonry; which is a brick or stone fireplace. Chimneys is manufactured with sheet metal fire boxes.

Another fireplace would be the Ventless Fireplaces; which are fueled be either gel, LP/bottled or natural gas. The chimney must also have certain types such as, Reinforced concrete chimneys. Chimneys that are made from concrete. Concrete chimneys are becoming less popular because of being famous for cracking after a while in weather.

Accessories

Fireplaces also come with many accessories. Many fireplaces vary with interior designs from western cultures. Some like; grates, fireguards, logboxes, andirons, pellet baskets and fire dogs, all used to reradiate heat.

Fireplaces also has many tools used to control the fire such as; pokers, bellows, tongs, shovels, brushes and toolstands. These tools will help flip over logs to help get the most out of them. The tools will also help put logs into the fire and put out the fire.
