Final Fantasy X is a console role-playing video game for the PlayStation 2. It is the first Final Fantasy game for the PS2 and introduced fully three-dimensional areas and voice acting to the series. Squaresoft's new 'Facial Motion System' adds a depth to the character facial expressions that the previous games lacked, making the cutscenes and in-game play that much more realistic. This is also the first game to spawn a direct sequel - Final Fantasy X-2. This is also the last Final Fantasy game by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the original creator.

Story
The story revolves around Tidus and Yuna fighting the evil force known as Sin. Unlike previous stories, Tidus happens to be a water-polo player and also happens to have a secret about his past that even he doesn't know until the very end. Not only that, but he is also a time-traveler, having traveled 1,000 years into the future to a time where Sin is still rampant. There are plenty of side games, quests, and easter eggs to explore. -
Gameplay
FF X steers clear of the ATB system and brings back the traditional turn-based system, also known as the Conditional Turn-Based Battle. Rather than having a time limit, the game pauses when it gets to your turn so you can figure out which action to perform without worrying if the enemy is going to attack or not. Another huge change is that pressing the L1 button allows you to switch out your active characters to those in reserve. The major change for FF X is the complete overhaul of the leveling system. The previous games were quite linear with the leveling up. FF X introduces the sphere grid system. The system isn't completely new -- it's similar to the development system in the Romancing SaGa games. Final Fantasy X takes SaGa's preference for developing character a statistic and a skill at a time, but removes random elements, allowing players to create their characters. The Sphere Grid is composed of dozens of tiny nodes, each connected together linear paths. Each node, save for the occasional empty one placed to space out progress, represents an improvement in a character's abilities or attributes. As the characters earn AP and Sphere Levels in battle, characters must progress across the Grid a node at a time. Unlike FFVII, where any character could master any skill, each character starts with basic skills and must follow a certain path. Tidus, Auron, and Kimahri follow paths comprised mainly of combat skills, while Yuna and Lulu concentrate on mainly magical skills. -
