The Omega Weapon is considered the toughest character in Final Fantasy VII. Although it is a tough monster, beating it is not a requirement as part of the storyline in the game. With its hit points ranging in the millions, the Omega Weapon can take a long while to beat. The monster also is equipped with an attack scheme that can destroy the protagonists with one or two timely hits.

Omega Weapon Location
In "Final Fantasy VIII," the Omega Weapon is waiting in the Altemisia Castle. After you defeat the eight bosses prior to the castle scene, you walk down a spiral stairway and activate a bell. Although it says you have one minute to find Omega Weapon, it's really 50 seconds because of a 10-second delay at the start. Head to the fountain area where a second switch is located. Activate that switch, and head north where the Omega Weapon awaits. -
Omega Weapon Facts
- Has seven known attacks: Death, Meteor, Megido Flame, Demi (reduces the protagonists' hit points to one-fourth their level), Mega Death, Terra Break, and Light Pillar.
- First attack may be Death, so it is important to have all characters at 9,999 hit points before the battle begins.
- The Omega Weapon should not be confused with the Ultimate Weapon, which has a similar look and attack scheme.
- Squall is essential to the fight. His Limit Break attack, if used repeatedly, can defeat Omega Weapon.
