FFXIII Background
In the new tale from Square Enix, the people live in a world split into two parts. One part is a peaceful floating city called Cocoon, and the other part is called Pulse. A crystal powers Cocoon and keeps it thriving. Technology and magic have gotten to a very advanced point, and the crystal that powers Cocoon can also create things like machines. A group called the "holy" government controls the city of Cocoon.Anyone in Cocoon who comes into contact with Pulse is banished, due to the paranoid possibility that they could be part of a plot to take down the city.FinalFantasyXIII.us: Story
