  • A Fig is a small fruit, most often eaten dried, that grows on large deciduous Ficus trees native to the Mediterranean region and southeast Asia.

    Figs are an ancient fruit: Fossil evidence shows that figs were one of the first plants to be cultivated by early humans and Adam and Eve reportedly wore fig leaves after eating the forbidden fruit in the Book of Genesis.
