Fettuccine is a flat, thick pasta that is very popular in both Italy and the United States. The name comes from the Italian word fetta, which means "a large strip". Fettuccine means "many little strips".
Fettuccine Alfredo

Fettuccine Alfredo is named after Roman restaurant owner Alfredo Di Lelio, whose namesake dish was popularized by Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks after they visited his restaurant, Alfredo alla Scrofa, in 1927. Pickford and Fairbanks called him "King of the Noodles."
