Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a 1986 comedy about a Chicago high school senior (Matthew Broderick) who decides to skip school with his best friend (Alan Ruck) and girlfriend (Mia Sara) and embark on a wild day on the town, with his principal hot on his heels. In the film, Bueller often breaks the Fourth Wall by talking directly to the audience and explaining his techniques and thoughts. Written and directed by John Hughes, the movie helped make Broderick a star and is still considered one of the best movies of the 1980s.
