Fernando Rodney is a right handed relief pitcher who spent his entire career with the Detroit Tigers before coming to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for the 2010 season. At 5-foot-11, 215 pounds, Rodney signed with the Tigers in his native Dominican Republic on November 1, 1997 as a non-drafted free agent.
Rodney made his Major League debut in 2002, pitching 18 innings in 20 games out of the bullpen. He finished with a 1-3 record, striking out 10 and walking 10 with an ERA of 6.00 and WHIP of 1.94.

Rodney got into 73 games that year and got his form back, throwing 75.2 innings and recording a 2-5 record and converted 37 of 38 save opportunities. He had a 4.40 ERA, struck out 61 and walked 41 batters as the Tiger closer. In addition, he had a solid WHIP of 1.47 and allowed just eight home runs out of the bullpen. Batters also hit just .249 against him.
Fernando Rodney 2008 Season
Rodney had a rough 2008 season, appearing in just 38 games out of the pen, recording an 0-6 record with 13 saves in 19 chances and an ERA of 4.91. However, he still struck out 49 batters while walking 30 in 40.1 innings. His WHIP was also 1.32. In addition, opposing hitters batted an anemic .224 against Rodney.
Fernando Rodney 2007 Season
While he went 2-6 with one save and two blown saves in 2007 with a 4.26 ERA, Rodney had a fabulous 2006, the year the Tigers went to their first World Series since 1984. He finished with a 7-4 record and seven saves in 11 opportunities with a 3.52 ERA. Rodney also 65 batters in 71.2 innings pitched while walking 34, having a WHIP of 1.19, while opposing batters hit just .196 while he was on the mound.
