  • Fernando Meirelles is a film producer and director from Brazil. He began making films while studying architecture in Sao Paulo. He went on to work in independent television before producing commercials. He is still a partner in one of the largest advertising companies in Brazil, which has helped fund his feature films. As a filmmaker he is best know for his work on City of God, and The Constant Gardener. He also created the TV Series City of Men on which the film, City of God, was based. He has been nominated for the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Director. Since 2007 he has been working on Blindness, a film adaptation of the Nobel Prize winning book by Jose Saramago.
