The Crash
Massa's car crashed into a tire barrier while traveling approximately 120 miles per hour. The crash is believed to have been caused when a loose part from another car came loose and struck Massa's helmet, apparently causing him to lose concentration.
Following the accident, Massa was rushed to hospital, where he underwent surgery to repair two skill fractures. Doctors reported that the injuries had been life threatening, but after surgery he was in "serious, but stable" condition.http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory?id=8172619
