Former Denver Mayor Federico Pena served as Secretary of Transportation and later as Secretary of Energy under Bill Clinton's presidential administration. Pena is the managing director of Vestar Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm.
Pena endorsed Barack Obama as his choice for the 2008 presidential election, increasing Obama's appeal to the American Latino population. Pena was scheduled to speak on the second night of the Democratic National Convention on August 26, 2008.
