Improved AI
In order to make the experience of playing F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin even more realistic than playing the original game, the developers made a number of tweaks to their AI system for enemies.In the first game, enemies already jumped over walls and desks in order to get to the player, but in F.E.A.R. 2 the enemies are even smarter. Enemies will understand and use cover and moving cover, meaning an enemy may pop up from behind cover to throw a grenade and then pop back into cover again. If the enemy is taking cover behind an object that moves, the enemy will move with the object in order to stay in cover.
Certain enemies in F.E.A.R. 2 can also now walk on walls and rails, adding to their creepiness factor.GameTrailers: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Behind the Scenes: AI

Interval 06: Deterioration
- The level begins with you manning the APC turret. Blow away all the replica troopers, then follow your teammates. Press X to reach Keegan behind the metal bars.
- Follow the linear route that leads all the way to a subway station. A replica assassin will ambush you here. Unlike the previous ones, he will fall to a clip from the assault rifle. Don't forget your slo-mo. There is armor and a medkit near by.
- Cross the turnstiles; two more replica assassins. The automatic shotgun is excellent for defeating them. If you need one, enter the ticket booth.
- INTEL ITEM #60: Inside the ticket booth, next to the auto-shotgun.
- Go up the escalators and take on two more assassins. Grab the auto-shotgun and frags on the newspaper vendors.
- Follow the path and at the fork, go right and down the escalators for armor, then go left and shove a vending machine out of the way.
- REFLEX INJECTOR #10: Right next to the armor at the foot of the escalators, by the locked gates. You may have seen this item before but couldn't reach it till now.
- The path leads to another dark subway station. Look for armor on the rubble at the dead-end on the tracks, then follow the tracks down the tunnel.
- INTEL ITEM #61: In front of the gruesome corpse sitting on a bench.
- Take on the well-dug in troops, then reach the door on the other side. A hammerhead goon will step out; immediately hit slo-mo and pound him with the shotgun/hammerhead, along with his backup.
- Enter the sewers and blaze a trail through the troops. The hammerhead is effective here. The route will curve around clockwise up some stairs. Before continuing to the right, go straight past the rows of power stations for armor.
- Enter the new area and you should see Keegan ahead. Run to his position and throw the switch on the electrical box. This allows you access to the flooded passages below.
- Follow the flooded passage, shooting any ghosts in your way. You will end at another subway tunnel. Go right for health and a pistol if you are running out of ghost-killing ammo.
- Continue on and follow the tracks. Check the platform for a hammerhead, and eventually frags and armor at the end. Take the passage to the right on the platform continue.
- INTEL ITEM #62: In the subway car across from the platform holding the hammerhead, on a seat.
- Blaze through the troop encampments. The fight will carry into another subway station. The rails are dangerous to touch, so use the subway car to cross safely. On the other side of the platform, look for another switch for an electrical box and throw it to make the tracks safe to cross.
- This will also spawn a crew of troops coming from your next route, one of which is super-armored and holding a laser rifle. They will not yet be aware of you, so turn off the flashlight, turn on slo-mo, and blast the laser rifle trooper with the pulse rifle if you still have it, or other powerful weaponry. Kill off the rest. Do NOT get too close to their spawning point or a checkpoint will trigger mid-battle...
- Dump the pulse rifle or missile launcher for the laser rifle, whichever has the least amount of ammo.
- Go down the tunnel and into the hole in the wall on the left to a new area.
- INTEL ITEM #63: Just past the hole in the wall, on a table in plain view.
- Drop down and immediately run straight to the left. This will save you from being crushed by a falling bus. Jump onto the tracks and take the door down the tunnel. Follow the path into a subway car wreck and climb up to a small food court.
- A vicious firefight will break out when you enter the food court. Capture the snack bar with frags immediately, then defend it with incendiaries and the laser. When finished, take the back door behind the food court.
- Go through the electrical room. Make sure to open the nearby fenced gate for armor, hidden under a box. Exit to another subway station for another firefight.
- Immediately snipe the goon standing by the turnstiles. Then keep right and snipe and frag out all the goons in the corridor (don't bother cooking, they will be far away). The last one standing is a laser goon; run across the corridor and grab the hammerhead, avoiding the laser. Run back and head to the ticket booth and shotgun anything trying to take your position. Finally, go slo-mo and kill the laser goon with the hammerhead.
- When you've won, go forward and head right from the mural to get armor, then proceed along the main path. It ends into a subway line under construction.
- Jump onto the tracks and immediately run across to one of the niches to avoid getting hit by a train. Then capture the platform across, then the structure under construction above. Shoot the barrels on the opposite platform to kill anyone left on the other side.
- INTEL ITEM #64: Inside the structure under construction, in a dark closet on the second floor. The closet is easily missed without the flashlight.
- Jump onto the subway car and use it to reach the opposite platform. Enter the nearby door and follow it to the end of the level.

"We are proceeding with powered armor drops in your sector."
- Head up the steps for an immediate fight with replica troops. Use frags to take them out. Do not go past the satellite dish.
- Grab the sniper rifle and use it to take out a sniper. Press forward and use the sniper rifle to take out troops below and two snipers ahead (one above the movie marquee sign, the other to the left). Watch for their laser sights.
- Enter the flooded chasm and go left to enter a building. Capture the movie theater using the laser. Collect more laser ammo, then enter the theater lobby. A laser goon will storm out; slo-mo and kill him with the laser.
- REFLEX INJECTOR #11: In the movie theater lobby, on the ticket counter.
- Exit the movie theater through the destroyed silver screen (walk through one of the employee access doors for a surprise). Follow the street; there is armor along the way.
- There is a powered armor lying near some power lines. Shoot the transformer to free it, then use it to fight off an army of missile launching goons and powered armors. The battles will be intense enough that you may be forcibly ejected from the unit; if so, retreat and wait for the powered armor unit to regenerate while killing off the current enemies. Disembark frequently to stock up on ammo and supplies, including missiles.
- At the end of the line, exit the powered armor and enter the building. Follow the linear route to a street outside, then to the epicenter itself. Follow the linear route down the slope of the crater to the end of the level.

"WARNING. OBSTRUCTION AHEAD."
- Drop down and collect the hammerhead ammo and armor. Follow the linear route through the tunnel, over a broken bridge, to a power generator.
- Use the ladder to climb down a pile of scrap. Enter the hallway ahead.
- INTEL ITEM #65: Lying in front of a replica pod in the hallway.
- A brief firefight will breakout in the room past the hallway. Take out the goons and go up the stairs and head upstairs to the tram. Use the computer on board to start it up.
- INTEL ITEM #66: On the ground right in front of the tram.
- Set all the proximity mines you have left all along the tram, and have a good sniping weapon ready. Another tram will swing by; snipe its crew, while keeping an eye out for other troops trying to jump aboard from passing structures. If they do, use incendiaries if they slip past the mines. The laser and sniper rifle are very helpful here if you still have it.
- After the first wave is repelled, a second one will begin with goons flooding in from both blue-colored entrances of the tram. Hide behind the sides of one entrance, sniping at the other while shooting anyone that comes from your entrance.
- After this wave is defeated, dump any weapon that's out of ammo for the ones lying on the ground, and run out of the blue entrance that is connected to the tram ahead. Press X to climb into the next tram. Fight your way to the front and shotgun anything coming out of a pod or trying to invade your tram.
- Once everyone is dead, collect the ammo and activate the computer here. A cutscene will occur and you will be in a new area.
- Make your way across the catwalks to Keegan, then progress forward to a ladder that you can climb. Do so.
- INTEL ITEM #67: In plain view at the top of the ladder, in front of a console.
- Progress up the steps into the coolant generators. Watch out for a replica assassin; don't forget your slo-mo. Past him is a open area with generators and Keegan in sight again.
- INTEL ITEM #68: In the area past the replica assassin, instead of heading over to Keegan, climb down a ladder to the right of the starting catwalk and collect the item at the bottom.
- Before going towards Keegan, jump down to the floor below and look for an open duct. Crawl to a catwalk and follow it to an area with a medkit and several grenades. Watch out for a replica assassin.
- Now head towards Keegan and follow the linear route to an ammo cache. There is a pulse weapon here amongst the spoils.
- INTEL ITEM #69: On the floor by the pulse weapon.
- Follow the yellow rails to the area below and use the computer to lower the platform.
- INTEL ITEM #70: Before using the platform, climb down a nearby ladder to get this item.
- Hop on the platform and ride it up. You will be attacked by four replica assassins. Take them out.
- Jump down onto the catwalk below; there's a ladder right in front of you to use. A replica assassin will attack from the right, however.
- REFLEX INJECTOR #12: Follow the catwalk away from Keegan to a pair of ladders which lead to the item.
- Climb down the ladder and follow the path down to another computer to lower another platform. Before jumping on the platform, make sure to grab the supplies near by it, including armor. Watch out for assassins.
- Ride the platform up and use it to reach the white light by Keegan. There are four assassins lurking here. Enter the white light for a cutscene.
- Afterward, move forward, grab the medkit off the shelf, and enter the loading docks. Look out for an assassin that attacks as you climb down the ladder.
- In the next area, grab the armor sitting on a barrer before climbing the staircase.
- INTEL ITEM #71: Just past the armor, underneath the stairs.
- Throw the manual override switch, but don't rush into the loading dock ahead. Instead, grab the sniper rifle and snag two snipers from behind the crate. A third will appear when you approach the ladder. Continue forward; when you drop down the blast doors will close, sealing you in.
- Watch out for a fourth sniper to your left as move to the tram. Grab sniper ammo and grenades off to your right. Jump off the side of the tram onto a platform with a ladder, along with medkits and armor. Climb up.
- At the top, a sniper will attack immediately. Take cover behind the crate and snipe him.
- Run to where the sniper rifle crate ahead is, take cover, and snipe another target. Two more will ambush you if you try to break cover. There is a missile cache here as well.
- Walk along the catwalk past the ladder for the cargo crane. You can collect more sniper ammo and armor in the areas beyond. When ready, climb the crane ladder and deactivate the crane.
- Immediately a sniper will attack. Retreat to the sniper rifle crate and snipe him. A horde of goons will appear, but they will mostly take up positions that get them easily sniped. Collect the rest of the sniper ammo and goodies, then get down to the tram.
- The tram arrives at its stop without incident. Walk towards the light and Alma will send the crate stacks flying, creating a small maze. Just wander through the maze until you find a medkit; near it is an elevator to use. If Alma attacks, fight her off with the B button. The level will end on the elevator ride.
