Faunasphere is a Online world, which has become overrun with pollution. Players work with a range of creatures called Fauna. The objective is for players to work alongside their Fauna and other players (called friends) to clean up pollution and complete a number of goals. There are a large variety of Fauna breeds to adopt, nurture and develop. In excess of 50 million Fauna variations are possible, these can either be bred or by the purchase of what is called "gene food".

Players of Faunasphere develop their own spheres with rare and exotic Fauna. Players can personalize their sphere by earning, trading or purchasing decorative items such as an oasis with waterfalls, flowers and trees. Faunasphere has a large team of developers and is updated frequently with seasonal features such as snow, Christmas decorations, etc. The game is free to play, but players can purchase game items and or move to a premium membership.

Faunasphere has been available on a Browser version via a dedicated website since August 3, 2009. A new version through Facebook has been available since February 18, 2010.

There are three basic fauna you can choose from to start the game, these are listed below and along with Big Fish Games description:

1. Scooter - "Small but hardy, the pokey Scooters can dive into water and pick up items just under the surface."
2. Sniffer - "With their keen sense of smell, these dog-like Fauna can sniff out buried treasure and lift rocks covering it."
3. Hoofer - "The sure-footed Hoofers use their powerful kicks to shake down items that are lodged in the tops of trees."

Once you have picked a fauna breed you are taken to the start of the game (called the tranquillity plateau). You will see that the goal station is glowing. You need to follow the instructions given to you by Amelia to complete your goals. Help is always available on achieving your goal, by revisiting your "Goal Menu".

Normally one of your first goals will be to learn about your Fauna's "Radial Menu". To find your "Radial Menu" you need to click on your Fauna character.

Other early goals will include

• A) Simply moving around in your world, - click the arrow directions for the route you wish to take
• B) Cleaning up the pollution - Click on the offending pollution and zap it with your collar (this may take more than one zap)
• C) Feeding your Fauna. - You will need to open your inventory, then grab the food and drag/drop it to your fauna

When you have completed all of the above tasks you will need to return to the goal station where you will find a key, this will open the Rock Garden Gate. You will find the key in your inventory. Click on the key and drop it onto the gate. You will now find the gate is unlocked and you can venture out into the Faunasphere would outside.

Once you have unlocked the rock garden gate you will find yourself in the corner of the rock garden, you will be near a Goal Station. It is important that you remember this location as you will need to check back here regularly to see if you have any new goals.

One of the early tasks in the rock garden is called "settling in". By completing this task you will build a home for all your fauna to live inside. It is important that you complete this task as it will help you find your personal Faunasphere. Amelia will give you all the help and advice you need to complete this task.

Once you have customized your sphere all you want you can venture out into the wider world. You can do this through the world gate but will need to have access to other players (friends) to investigate their worlds.
