A gunman fired two shots at a Florida Atlantic University on-campus party in the early hours of April 30, 2008. The police immediately began a search for the gunman.
On the afternoon of April 30, 2008, Omar Graham Junior was arrested in connection with the shooting.
The campus was placed on lockdown, classes were canceled at the Boca Raton campus and students were advised to stay in their dorm rooms.
President of the university, Frank Brogan gave a press conference in the morning outlining the details known about the incident and the steps the school took to deal with the crisis.
