Fatburger History

Lovie Yancey, founder of Fatburger, opened in 1954; she created the biggest, juiciest hamburgers anyone had ever seen, getting the name Fatburger. The burger is made with fresh lean beef, not frozen patties. Cooked-to-order, just the way you want it, every time.

Yancey wanted to get across that it was a big burger with everything on it. She wanted it to be a meal in itself. That was how the name became Fatburger.

Only thing she liked better than hamburgers was music. You will hear Rock'n'Roll, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Classic Soul and much more music blasting from the jukebox.

Lovie Yancey, founder of the Fatburger restaurant chain, which began with a popular post-World War II hamburger stand in South Los Angeles, died with pneumonia, at age 96.http://articles.latimes.com/2008/feb/02/local/me-yancey2
