FarmVille

FarmVille is a social game developed by Zynga, and available on social networks and iPhones. Launched in June 2009, it became one of the most popular applications on Facebook, garnering 10 million users in less than a month. In FarmVille, players grow crops and trees, raise animals, put up buildings, and visit other players' environments, while earning coins to "unlock" items that help them advance. Coins and cash can also be purchased through PayPal, credit cards, and mobile phones.

Zynga is the largest game publisher on the social networking site, Facebook.http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/05/04/farmville-developer-continues-to-expand/ There are new additions added to Farmville on a regular basis. Farmville Quick Money Making Tips

  • Login every day for lottery coins.

  • Add lots of friends as you can help them on their farms daily. This is good for XP and coins!

  • Choose crops that mature at a rate you can live with. Don't plant 2 hour plants if you can only check once a day.

  • Buying items for your farm is a great way to add XP and make it look nice!

  • Check your ribbons. Each one gives you bonuses. Some give money, some XP, some give items.

  • Make sure to check your news feed for your friends ribbons each one will get you a coin bonus.

  • Make sure to check your news feed for your friends ribbons each one will get you a coin bonus.

  • Also check your friends' feeds for lost animals.

Storage

Added November 19 2009, Tool sheds and Barns now allow you to store unused items.

  • Tool Sheds purchased with coins store 2 items where Barns store 6.
  • Tool Sheds purchased with cash store 15 items and Barns store 20.

If you need a lot of storage but don't want to take up much space, you either need to buy using cash or use Tool Sheds. Tool Sheds store 8 items in the same space as a Barn stores 6.

Storage can now be expanded on every unit. You can add 5 storage to any storage building(barns and tool sheds). By having a barn raising. You will be given 3 days to get 10 friends to help you by clicking on your Facebook news feeds. If you fall short you can spend one Farmcash per missed person to get the upgrade anyway.

Plowing

Plowing gains 1 XP regardless of what you plant, and any unused piece of ground can be used. Unlike Farmtown your neighbors and friends cannot help you plow in Farmville.

Using a tractor allows you to plow larger swathes of land. However they require fuel and fuel can only be purchased with cash not coins or you can wait for it to refill. It refills at the rate of one per 2 minutes. Each fuel unit allows you to do one thing to one square of grown.(Plow, Harvest, or Seed) Fuel can also be found and shared when harvesting crops. Clicking on an update from a friend who has found extra fuel is an easy way to get some free fuel for your farm equipment.

If you build a fence around yourself, your character won't walk to the different squares and will plow much quicker. But a better Farmville tip is to watch where your character pops up on the screen. At that point put 4 hay bales around him/her. This will make it so that your character can't move. This cuts down on the time spent walking from one square to the next.

Planting on Farmville

You can either chose the multi-tool and click on any piece of plowed land, which will then pop up the market window where you will need to select the type of seed you want to plant. Then it will plant that type of seed on that open plowed area. Once you do this you can then keep clicking on plowed areas and planting the same type of seed.

You can also start planting by clicking on the marketplace and then selecting a type of seed. Then clicking on any open piece of plowed land.

It's very important to choose which type of seed you want to plant by your ability to get back in time to harvest it. Just because you can make the most money early on by doing strawberries, doesn't mean you will. Strawberries have to be picked every 4 hours. If you fail to get back to them before they go bad, you'll be out the money for plowing and the seeds.

Harvesting on Farmville

For harvesting you can simply use the multi-tool and click on each square which is ready to harvest. You can also buy the Harvester, which can harvest 4 squares at a time.

You can also use the multi-tool to harvest individual animals and trees.

A milk barn is available where you can add up to 20 cows. You can click on this single barn and harvest all 20 cows at once.

A chicken coop is available which allows you to keep 20 chickens. You can click on this single coop and harvest all 20 chickens at once.

A horse stable is also now available. Adding your animals to these buildings helps save you time during the game. You also receive special items that can be shared with your friends, when you harvest from the buildings. Eah has their own unique items, like in the chicken coop, you will often find mystery eggs that can be shared.http://www.unigamesity.com/new-in-farmville-chicken-coops-mystery-eggs-colored-chicken/

Fertilizing Farmville Crops

If you visit a neighbor or friends farm, you are given the option to help out around the farm. This can be scaring off other animals, raking leaves, or many other things. If you do this you will be rewarded with some coins and XP. If that person has crops which are still growing(IE can't be ready to harvest yet.) you will be given the option of fertilizing up to 5 crops. By doing so their crops will grow bigger than normal, and they will also get XP when they harvest them. You'll get additional points towards a ribbon for fertilizing.

Animal Husbandry on Farmville

All animals in Farmville produce something. Chickens give eggs, cows give milk, and sheep give wool. Odder animals give similarly odd things. In any case every time an animal is ready to produce, they will get a pink candy corn or pick icon above them. Simply click the animal and then select collect whatever that particular animal gives

Farmville Christmas Tree

This holiday Zynga gave out Christmas Trees on Farmville a Facebook game. The Farmville Christmas Tree starts small. As your friends send you gifts which come in various colors it grows. Gifts come in Blue, Pink, Green, Red and Brown. It's not known what the colors will represent if anything. The gifts can be opened and have different farming gifts inside. You can get animals, trees, fuel, and many other items.

Farmville Flowers

Flowers in Farmville are just like any other crop. You sell them, gain XP for growing them, and can master them by growing enough of them. But in addition while harvesting there is a chance that you will pick a perfect bunch. If you have a Garden Shed, that perfect bunch will be available to use as decorations for your Farm(They last 14 days after you use them not from the point at which you find them.). You can also choose to share them with your friends. You set how many you want to share and then post a note to your news feed. Anybody who clicks on it will get an arrangement for their farm.

The Garden Shed can be purchased from the store. You can only have a single Garden shed which has a store amount of 30 bunches. These bunches can be any mix of available flowers but you can only store 30.

Farmville Farm Equipment

You can plow, seed, and harvest one plot at a time by default; however, if you purchase farm equipment you can then more of each at a time. The only draw back is they require fuel. Your allotted only a maximum amount of fuel. Currently that amount is 150. This means you can plow 150 squares, seed 150 squares, or harvest 150 squares. Your fuel is then replenished at the rate 1 per 2 minutes.

  • Each piece of equipment costs 30,000 coins.
  • You can buy the Tractor(plows) at level 12 it comes in 2 colors red and pink.
  • You can buy the Harvester at level 13.
  • You can buy the Seeder at level 14.

Recently to help consolidate their properties Zynga has added crossover items. 3 of these are farm equipment. The Mafia Wars tractor, Havester, and Seeder can do 9 square with each click(3X3 area). To get access to these you have to reach a certain level in Mafia Wars.

Farmville Crops Info

The "Money per Day" column is the one to pay attention to. This allows you to compare two crops with different maturity rates and find the one that will net you the most money.

Farmville Seasonal Items

New Years Ball Drop - This item gives an instant level the first time you see it drop.

Christmas Tree - Instead of the usual items you give your friends you can give presents. Your tree fills and it gets larger. After December 25 you can click on the tree and open the presents. Many items which normally cost Farmville cash were given away.

Farmers Market

You can now make some of your crops available to others so that they can complete collaborative farming projects.

Collaborative Farming

Collaborative Farming is a recent addition to Farmville. A variety of goals can be chosen, each consisting of harvesting a particular crop amount within a given time period. After choosing your target, you can advertise among your friends to help you with your goal. The goals break down into 3 levels gold, silver and bronze. The different levels are awarded based on the speed at which you complete your task.

As with all Farmville game elements, having lots of friends is the key. Because these are timed events, it's best to discuss beforehand what target your going after and attacking it as a group. Getting Farmville friends together as a group to accomplish objectives will allow more to be accomplished in less time.

Farmville Holiday Celebration Tips

Make sure you get all your friends to send you what ever the current collection is. This could be valentines for Valentines day, or presents for Christmas. The same techniques work for each Holiday. Check your news feed for friends milestones. Each time you click on them you get a free valentine. They happen at 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, and 150. Each time a friend trades in their collection(valentines, presents, gold, eggs...) for an item and share that on the feed you can click it and get the same item for free.

FarmVille: How to add more Chicken Coops

A Farmville user demonstrates how multiple browser tabs can be used in order to place two chicken coops in a Farmville farm. The first coop is added by purchasing it like any other standard building. However, a chicken coop gift must be given by another Farmville user before this process is started. Once the first coop is placed, the gift can still be redeemed, allowing for a second coop to be placed. Farmville normally limits users to just one chicken coop, but this tactic successfully allows users to place two.
