Fantastic Four Comic Book

Background

In 1961, National Comics (later DC Comics) publisher Jack Liebowitz played a round of golf with Timely Comics publisher Martin Goodman. Liebowitz bragged about the success of the Justice League of America series, which at the time was a big seller for National.

Goodman called Timely's art director, Stanley Martin Lieber, to come up with a comic book team for a new series. As a result, Lieber, better known as Stan Lee, created the Fantastic Four.Comics 101: The Way It Began: The Fantastic Four
