The Fan Man (James Miller) was a parachutist and paraglider pilot. Miller was known for making appearances at various sporting events using his paraglider.
Fan Man Fight
Miller first garnered fame in 1993 during the heavyweight championship fight between Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe. Miller had been circling Caesar's Palace for 25 minutes before descending in his paraglider to the ring during the seventh round of the fight. The lines of the glider became tangled in overhead lights and Miller landed on the top rope in a corner of the ring. Miller fell or was pulled into the crowd where many spectators began attacking him. Miller was knocked unconscious and taken to the hospital. After being released from the hospital, Miller was charged with reckless flying and forced to pay a $200 fine. The media nicknamed Miller the "Fan Man."East Side Boxing: 15 Years Ago Today...
