Family Smoking Prevention And Tobacco Control Act

  • President Barack Obama will sign the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act on June 22, 2009. The anti-smoking bill allows the FDA unprecedented oversight into tobacco regulations.

    Under the new anti-smoking law, the FDA will reduce nicotine in cigarettes and will block labeling such products as "low tar" or "light." Cigarette makers will have to put large graphics with warnings on cartons.
