Start of the walkthrough and video production was delayed due to widespread bugs throughout the expansion, e.g., giant floating exclamation marks, glitchy graphics, missing textures, and complete game freezes. After confirming that the English Xbox 360 version of the expansion had somehow become corrupted, Bethesda removed the file from Xbox Live.GameSpot: Fallout 3: The Pitt pulled off XBL, update due Wed. • About The Pitt

Operation Anchorage, the first expansion for Fallout 3, was released on January 27, 2009. It was set in a battle simulator that recreated the battles in Anchorage, Alaska, during "The War." The Pitt allows players to visit the post-apocalyptic remains of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Unlike Operation Anchorage, it is not a simulation and takes place in the real world.

A desperate radio message from escaped slave Wernher marks the beginning of the expansion. Wernher believes that The Pitt's leader has found a cure for mutations and he needs help retrieving it. The player will be able to make a number of moral choices, according to his play style, and will ultimately decide whether to help the slaves or their Raider masters.
