Head of State
- This quest can be picked up by either visiting the Lincoln Memorial and talking to Leroy Walker, or by finding the Temple of the Union and talking to Hannibal Hamlin. Even if you picked up the mission at the Lincoln Memorial, you'll still have to eventually travel to the Temple of the Union.
- TIP: The Lincoln Memorial is just west of the Washington Monument and you can get the location of the Temple of the Union marked on your map by talking to Mei Wong in Rivet City and giving her 25 caps to defend herself from the Slaver named Sister.
- Once you've gained entry into the Temple, head up the stairs and talk to Hannibal. He wants you to check out the Lincoln Memorial and see if the Super Mutant presence there is gone.
- NOTE: If you visited the Memorial before the Temple, you'll be able to tell him that there are no Mutants, only slavers. In this case, he'll ask you to clear all Slaver presence at the Memorial.
- After talking to Hannibal, go see Caleb for the first part of this mission
- The Museum of History is located just west of the Washington Monument and you've probably been there to visit the Ghoul town of Underworld.
- When you're inside the Museum of History, instead of going inside underworld, make a left and enter the double doors leading to the Lower Halls.
- Be ready for ghouls to start running out of every doorway as soon as you climb the steps in the Lower Halls. Be wary of the turret behind the barred doors to your right.
- Once the coast is clear, head south and enter the door at the back wall to enter the Offices.
- Travel up the stairs, head through the doorway and head down the left pathway. Be prepared to deal with more ghouls.
- Head past the locked door and into the second door on your left. Go through the hole in the wall to reach the room that the locked door blocked off. On one of the desks is an Action Abe Action Figure. Pick it up for your first Lincoln related artifact.
- Return to the hallway and lockpick barred door. It has a very easy lock so you should be able to pick it.
- Head into the large room and take out the turret above. Proceed up the stairs and get ready to be ambushed by more ghouls from the upstairs rooms.
- When everything settles down, pick up the Lincoln Memorial Poster to the right of the hole in the wall. This will satisfy the quest requirement for Caleb.
- If you want you can return to the Temple of the Union now and proceed to the next part of the quest, or you can continue searching for more Lincoln Artifacts. Skip to step #22 if don't you want to continue searching for artifacts.
- Turn to face east and head into the hallway. Enter the first doorway and turn around to face the shelf on the same wall as the door. Here you'll find Lincoln's Coin Collection.
- Return to where you found Lincoln's Voice and the Memorial Poster and head into the hole in the wall. Look around the left side for a display case containing Lincoln's Repeater along with a Chinese Army: Spec Ops Training Manual Skillbook.
- Go back down to where the turret was and check the shelf in the southwest corner of the room for a Wanted Poster of John Wilkes Booth.
- Go to the southeast corner of the room now and search the shelves for a Civil War Draft Poster.
- Go back to the steps that you took to enter the offices and head down the west hallway. Enter the door on your right to find a large room full of junk and shelves that have fallen over. Look slightly to the left of the entrance near the desk and you'll find Lincoln's Hat.
- Return to the Lower Levels and starting working your way back to the Museum of History Lobby. When you reach the large display room, look at the display cases on the west wall to find Lincoln's Diary.
- Head back to the Wasteland and fast travel back to either the Temple of the Union or the Lincoln Monument, depending on who you want to give the artifacts to.
- TIP: You can also sell the artifacts to Abraham Washington in Rivet City.
- Now it's time to make a decision. Do you want to side with the Slaves? Or do you want to side with the Slavers?
- If you want to side with the Slaves, bring the Memorial Poster back to Caleb and then tell Hannibal that Caleb is ready to reclaim the Memorial.
- Bring up the wait menu with the Back button and wait an hour for everyone to get ready.
- Fast travel over to the Mall Northwest Metro Station or to the Lincoln Memorial and then walk to the Metro Station. Its slightly northwest of the memorial.
- Now comes the boring part. Continue waiting in increments of about 12 hours until Hannibal and the rest of the group appear by the Metro.
- Talk to Hannibal and tell him to wait while you go investigate.
- Of course by investigate, you really mean kill every single last Slaver in the Memorial.
- Once the deed is done, return to Hannibal, tell him the good news, he'll give you the Dart Gun schematic as a reward and you'll be done with the quest. Quest Completed
- If you want to side with the Slavers, bring an artifact back to Leroy and agree to his proposition of paying 100 caps for info about the runaway slaves.
- Leroy will pay you your caps and then will set off towards the Temple of the Union.
- Fast travel to the Temple of Union and then head southwest towards the freeway. You'll find Leroy and his gang waiting for you underneath. When you approach, Leroy will initiate a conversation with you and then will begin his attack.
- You don't really have to do anything in this one. The Slaver's severely outclass the people of the Temple. When the bloodshed is over, talk to Leroy to receive your reward of negative karma and complete the quest. Quest Completed

The Replicated Man
- When you first travel to Rivet City, make sure to talk to Dr. Zimmer in the Science Lab to pick up this quest. He'll tell you about a very unique runaway android and asks you to find him and bring him back.
- NOTE: You can also pick up this quest by simply finding an android related holotape.
- Unfortunately, it won't be that easy. The Android apparently has gone under facial reconstruction, voice modification, and has no recollection that he ever was an android.
- So in other words, its up to you to follow the trail of breadcrumbs he left by checking with scientists, doctors and other brainy types that he might have come into contact with for information.
- Dr. Zimmer suggests that you start with Dr. Preston, whom you can usually find in his office on the Upper Deck of Rivet City.
- Preston will give you a holotape that he believes is a hoax. Give it a listen and you'll hear the android himself making a plea for help. He needs to find someone who knows a lot about computers and someone that can give him facial reconstruction surgery.
- Now its time to do some investigating to find out more information. The first person you should talk to is Seagrave Holmes since he also resides in Rivet City. You'll usually find him in the marketplace.
- Either use your speech skill, or give him 100 caps to spill what he knows about the android. He'll tell you to keep your voice down, as the commonwealth are trying to make it all seem like a hoax. He gives you another holotape.
- After you listen to the holotape, it's time to fast travel to Megaton and seek out Moira from Craterside Supply.
- On the circular table behind Moira's counter is another holotape. Pick it up, and don't worry, it isn't stealing. Give it a listen and you'll find out that the Android was referred to a guy named Pinkerton at Rivet City.
- Talk to Moira and she'll basically tell you the same thing you learned from the holotape.
- NOTE: You may have been visited by a woman named Victoria Watts at this point or perhaps even earlier. If not, it's bound to happen in the near future. She's a member of the Railroad and aims to protect runaway androids. She'll give you a component that you can present to Dr. Zimmer which will cause him to believe that his android is dead. You can do this as soon as you obtain the component and you'll complete the quest. You won't get the nice reward that you would get if you did things the long way though.
- Time to fast travel back to Rivet City. For directions on how to get to the Broken Bow and to Pinkerton, check Chapter 3 of the Wasteland Survival Guide, the section entitled "The History of Rivet City".
- When you reach Pinkerton, ask him about the Android. He'll initially tell you that he doesn't know anything, but be persistent and he'll eventually tell you all he knows. The android's current name is Harkness and Pinkerton was the one who performed the memory wipe and the facial reconstruction.
- Ask Pinkerton for proof about the android and he'll give you the password to his computer, before and after pictures of the android, and a holotape.
- Tell Pinkerton that the android should know who he really is and he'll give you a code that will uncover Harkness' memories.
- Listen to the holotape, view the pictures, and do some research on Pinkerton's computer, then head back outside and return to Rivet City's entrance.
- Time to make a decision on how you want to complete this quest.
- You can head to Dr. Zimmer and tell him all you know about the android, his location, his name, and his face. The result of going down this path is negative karma and a perk called Wired Reflexes, which gives you a higher chance to hit when in V.A.T.S. Quest Completed
- If you want to go for positive karma, instead seek out Harkness. He can be found in the Bridge Tower, which is located on the top floor of the stairwell, or wandering around the marketplace.
- Show all of your evidence to Harkness about him being an android and then recite the code you received from Pinkerton that will bring back his memories.
- Ask Harkness what he's going to do about Zimmer and he'll say that he's going to kill him. A good idea here would be to tell Harkness to let you do it, go face Zimmer, sell out Harkness' location and then kill Zimmer and Armitage as they're walking away. This way you get both Harkness' plasma rifle as a reward from him and you get the Wired Reflexes Perk from Zimmer. Quest Completed

Oasis
- If you are a regular listener to Three Dog's radio broadcast, you're likely to be intrigued by the rumors of a part of the Wasteland that has real green living trees. It turns out that such a place truly does exist and it's the location of another sidequest.
- To find this hidden Oasis, you'll need to explore the northern mountains. It's in the middle of the northern section of the map and you'll know you're on the right path when you start to see little patches of green grass on the floor.
- Once you reach the entrance to the Oasis, you'll be greeted by Tree Father Birch who will warmly welcome you into the Treeminder's secret home.
- Follow Birch inside the Oasis and then talk to him once he reaches his seat in the middle of the town.
- Birch will tell you that "He" has foretold your arrival and has instructed that you be brought to meet Him. While you won't get a straight answer regarding who He is unless you use your speech skill, you'll find out soon enough.
- In order for you to be worthy of meeting with Him, you'll need to undergo a purification ritual that involves drinking a sap while the Treeminders say a few ominous words. Activate the Basin of Purification in the middle of the town when you're ready to be purified.
- You'll pass out and then reawaken in His presence. Who is He? Well if you walk around the big tree in the center, you'll find out. Talk to the tree and find out who the God of the Oasis really is.
- You'll find out that the tree's name is Harold and he's quite sick of his meaningless and boring existence. He wants you to kill him by destroying his heart.
- Be sure to talk to Harold extensively as his story is really quite interesting. Once you're done, head back into the pavilion and proceed southwest to listen in on Tree Father Birch and Tree Mother Laurel arguing with each other.
- Birch will turn his attention to you and will tell you his interpretation of His will. He wants you to stop the spreading of the seeds that create the green plant life you see around you by putting a special sap on His heart.
- After Birch gives you the sap, Laurel will then tell you that she thinks His will instead involves spreading the greenery to the rest of the Wasteland and will give you a Liniment to accomplish that goal.
- With your three choices in mind, proceed to Treeminder Cypress at the gate and ask him to give you the key.
- With the key in hand, unlock the gate leading to the caverns and get ready to kill a bunch of Mirelurks.
- Head down the sloped path and follow it until you reach a large pool of water with Mirelurks swimming inside.
- Obviously you'll want to take out all of the Mirelurks before heading into the water, so make sure that's taken care of.
- Start swimming towards the wall ahead and then dive under once you reach the end. Swim through the tunnel below and then emerge on the other side.
- Follow this path around until you reach the door taking you to The Sunken Chambers.
- Keeping going down this winding trail, killing more Mirelurks along the way, and you'll eventually come to the chamber with Harold's heart. Here you can decide whether you want to destroy it, stop the growth of green, or accelerate the greenification of the Wasteland. Whatever you decide, after you do it, head through the southern door to reach the Damp Cave.
- At the end of this path, you'll see a shallow pool below with a bunch of Mirelurks hanging around. Either snipe them from above, or drop down below to take them all out.
- Once they're dead, grab the Nuka Cola Quantum from the patch of glowing fungi to the north, and swim under the northwestern wall to reach a secret exit leading directly to the Grove.
- Depending on whether you used the Sap, the Liniment, or destroyed Harold's heart, you'll talk with either Birch or Laurel. Quest Completed
- If you killed Harold, you'll receive no reward other than the Barkskin Perk that you received when you did the action. This perk gives +1 to endurance and +10 to damage resistance.
- If you applied the Sap, you'll be able to get a Missile Launcher, two missiles, and Maple's Garb which is an armor that gives +1 to Agility and +1 to Perception. Just talk with Branchtender Cypress and Branchtender Maple.
- If you applied the Liniment, you'll be able to get a Brotherhood Outcast armor which gives +10 to Rad Resist, +5 to Big Guns, +1 to Strength and -1 to Agility, as well as a Villager's Hood which gives +10 to sneak and +1 to Agility. Talk with Bloomseer Poplar and Branchtender Linden for these rewards.
