Protecting the Waterway
- This side quest can be obtained by talking to Scribe Bigsley inside the gift shop office of the Jefferson Memorial. To get there just fast travel over to the Jefferson Memorial, turn around to face the door that leads to the gift shop, head on inside and look for a line of people against the wall. They're all waiting to get inside to talk to Scribe Bigsley
- Work your way through the dialogue choices and offer to lend Bigsley a hand with all of the problems that have piled up.
- For this particular quest, ask for more information regarding the Rivet City caravans. Offer to go over to Rivet City and speak with Officer Lepelletier regarding the organized Bandit attacks. Once you've taken on the job, bid farewell to Bigsley and you'll officially pick up the quest.
- Head outside of the Jefferson Memorial and fast travel on over to Rivet City.
- Officer Lepelletier can be found at the bottom of the structure that connects the bridge to Rivet City. Talk to her and tell her that Bigsley sent you to help out.
- Lepelletier will brief you on the situation and then send you off to assist the caravan.
- TIP: You can succeed in a speech challenge with Lepelletier to convince her to give you her Plasma Rifle to help you out on your mission.
- Once you're ready, head on out and start following your quest marker northwest until you reach the caravan.
- NOTE: You may run into the new type of Super Mutant, the Super Mutant Overlord, on your way to the caravan. While they're not as dangerous as Feral Ghoul Reavers, these guys are still very tough and should be approached with caution. The Tesla Cannon from long range works wonders.
- By the time you locate the caravan, they will likely have already been attacked by bandits, but managed to fight them off. Talk to the survivors and then examine the corpses of the bandits to pick up a recording entitled "New Meeting Place."
- Listen to the recording and you'll find that their new meeting place is at Grandma Sparkle's house, which is located at Wilhelm's Wharf. If you've discovered the location already, then you can just fast travel on over. Otherwise you'll have get there on foot. The location should be marked on your map with the quest marker.
- Once you arrive at Wilhelm's Wharf, you have a couple of choice with regards to how you want to deal with things.

Aiding the Bandits
- Talk with Split Jack and tell him the secret password: "Mirelurk Stew" to be accepted as a member of his gang. He'll give you Metal Armor and a Metal Helmet. Put both of them on and then speak with Split Jack once again.
- You can try to succeed in a speech challenge to get Jack to give up on his operation. If you do, the bandits will leave the area and kill poor little Grandma Sparkle, allowing you to take her key and raid her fridge.
- If that doesn't interest you, challenge Split Jack to a duel for the leadership of the gang. Being an honorable bandit, Split Jack will ask for a 1 on 1 melee duel with the weapon of your choice. Choose between a board, pipe, or knife and then get ready to fight.
- NOTE: If you have a follower, make sure to tell him to return to his home town before you initiate this duel. If you or a follower uses a gun or attacks anyone other than Split Jack, the whole gang will join the fight and you won't be able to get the best reward that this quest offers.
- Once you take out Split Jack, another bandit member will approach to congratulate you. However, it seems that they're sick of having a leader, so they won't make you the leader of their gang. What they will do though is cut you in on the profits if you're able to convince Officer Lepelletier to pay them protection money.
- Head back over to Rivet City and speak with Officer Lepelletier once again. You can still opt for the good karma ending to this quest by just telling her that you took out the leader of the bandits, or you can tell her that she needs to cough up 200 caps every week for protection from the gang.
- TIP: You can also succeed at a speech challenge and pocket 500 caps for yourself right then and there.
- If you get her to pay you, you'll complete the quest, lose karma, and will be fired upon by Officer Lepelletier if you try to talk to her again.

Killing the Bandits
- Isn't really much to say about this one. You can open fire right from the start and take out all the bandits, or you can go through all of the above and then just decide to tell Officer Lepelletier that you took out their leader.
- After informing Officer Lepelletier that you've taken care of the problem, she'll send you back to Bigsley to claim your reward. Fast travel back over to the Jefferson Memorial and talk to Bigsley once again.
- Your reward includes a Gatling Laser, a Plasma Pistol, some ammo, Enclave Power Armor, an Enclave Power Helmet, and most importantly, the experience points for completing the quest.

Holy Water
- For this quest, you must again talk with Scribe Bigsley and offer to help with finding what keeps happening with the water shipments that are being sent to Megaton.
- Once you get the quest in your quest log, head outside and fast travel over to Megaton.
- Leave through the front entrance so that you're outside and then turn around to face the door leading to Megaton. Look carefully for a small piece of paper posted on the door and examine it.
- Read the Holy Water Pamphlet that you just acquired and you'll be pointed towards Springvale to check out a cult called the Apostles of Eternal.
- You can either fast travel to Springvale or just make the short walk on foot towards the church. Either way, just follow your quest marker and you'll eventually see a man named Brother Gerard.
- Gerard will give you some "Holy Water", which you must drink in order to talk to him again. Don't worry, it's just a bit of irradiated water. Unless you're about 12 points away from killing yourself via radiation, it should be safe to drink.
- Once you drink the water, talk to Gerard again and question him a bit about the Apostles of Eternal Light. Progress through the conversation tree until you're able to ask if you can go inside the monastery. Gerard will refuse unless you're able to prove your worth by obtaining "The Glow". By this of course, he means becoming irradiated.
- To quickly become irradiated, head over to the podium inside the church and press the switch. This will trigger a radiation trap by the bathtub that will get you really irradiated, really fast. If you get sick with minor radiation poisoning, you can talk to Bigsley and succeed at a speech challenge to get permission to go inside. Otherwise, you'll need to have at least advanced radiation poisoning to be allowed inside.
- Once you've got the key from Gerard, head inside the monastery through the trap door in the church.
- Head down the stairs and talk to Mother Curie III.
- From here you have a choice of how to proceed. You can put an end to the problem with violence and kill Mother Curie and her ghoulish friends, you could convince her with a speech challenge to stop poisoning the water, or you could convince her that you're the Prophet of Atom by increasing your radiation level all the way to the point where you have critical radiation poisoning.
- Whatever you decide to do, once its done and the objective entitled "Stop the Apostles of Light" is completed, fast travel back to the memorial and speak with Scribe Bigsley to obtain your reward of 300 bottlecaps.

The Amazing Aqua Cura
- To pick up this quest, fast travel over to the Museum of History and note the crowd of ghouls near the entrance of Underworld. Talk to Griffon, the one on the stage, to pick up this quest.
- Interrogate Griffon a bit and ask where he got his Aqua Cura from to make him squirm. From there you can succeed in a speech challenge to get him to tell you about his little operation. Even if you don't succeed at any of the speech challenges, return to talk to Bigsley after you've exhausted all of the conversational topics.
- Talk to Bigsley about Griffon and he'll tell you that his operation is based at the Museum Authority in the Mall, so that is your next destination.
- Fast travel over to the Washington Monument if you don't already have the location for the Museum Authority, and follow your quest marker.
- Inside the Museum Authority, the only resistance you'll find are some of Griffon's hired men. They shouldn't be any kind of problem for you.
- Keep killing the Ghoul Guards until you come across one that has Griffon's Bottling Instructions on his corpse. If you can't find a body that has it, there's a recording on a table near the bathtubs. This is all the proof you'll need to confront Griffon.
- Leave the Museum Authority and fast travel back to the Museum of History.
- Speak with Griffon and tell him that you've seen his operation and you'll complete the quest right there.
- Post Quest Fun: How you proceed after you complete the quest is up to you. Some fun things you can do though include blackmailing Griffon into paying you money each week for your silence, get him to admit his operation to the ghouls (which will lead to an amusing scene of the ghouls ganging up on Griffon), or you could convince him to start selling real Aqua Pura.
