The Road to the Presidential Metro
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Pt 1 (Time: 8:02)
- Your next quest will have you taking the fight directly to where the Enclave is basing their operation, the Adams Air Force Base. It's a long and dangerous trip there, so come well prepared.
- TIP: One item that I would recommend you pick up before you start the journey to the Adams Air Force Base is the Ghoul Mask. It is obtained by playing through the Tenpenny Tower quest and siding with the ghouls. If you've already completed the Tenpenny Tower quest and sided with Tenpenny, then unfortunately you won't be able to get the mask.
- Once you have your assignment and are ready to go, head out of the Citadel and fast travel over to Metro Central. Be prepared to have to deal with a bunch of Super Mutants as soon as you regain control.
- After you clear the area, follow your quest marker westward and you'll eventually come to a manhole surrounded by three cones that will take you down to a Utility tunnel.
- Collect some of the goodies inside the room to your right and then head through the doorway on the opposite end and follow the path all the way to the end until you see a door on the right side that leads to the Presidential Sub Level.
- Head straight and then take the stairs down to the lower level. Follow the path to the end and you'll come to a room guarded by a Sentry Bot. Take it out and then proceed through the southwestern part of the room and take two sets of stairs down.
- Proceed through the hallway until it empties into a large room guarded by a Mark V Turret and a Sentry Bot. Kill the Turret and the Sentry Bot will likely charge in to deal with you.
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Pt 2 (Time: 4:47)
- Once the area is clear, head through the double doors across from where you entered and you'll come to another area, this time guarded by a Mister Gutsy.
- Turn right and start heading eastwards down the tracks and keep on going until you reach the end where you'll find double doors on the right side. Be prepared to deal with a Sentry Bot along the way.
- Go through the doors, head down the stairs, and go through the opening to the right to reach more subway tracks.
- Head east down the tracks and you'll be met with a Sentry Bot, Mark V Turret, and a Mister Gutsy along the way. There will be an open door on the wall to the right that leads to a room with a First Aid Box.
- Continue heading down the tracks, taking out any and all Sentry Bots that line the path.
- When you near the end of the tunnel, there will be double doors on the eastern wall. Head through them and talk to the computer terminal named M.A.R.Go.T.
- If you can get M.A.R.Go.T. to believe that you are a member of the US Army (through a speech challenge) or override her security parameters (using your Science skill), you will be able to unlock the door leading to the Presidential Metro without having to put up a fight.
- If you fail the speech challenge and don't have enough Science skill to override the security, your only option is to blast your way in. Kill the two turrets and the RoboBrain that comes in to stop you. Then head around the other side and proceed through the double doors leading to the Presidential Metro
The Presidential Metro
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Pt 3 (Time: 9:27)
- TIP: If you managed to get past M.A.R.Go.T's security without blowing it up, the bots here will all be friendly towards you and you'll only have to worry about the ghouls.
- Another TIP: If you have the Ghoul Mask, you can use it to fool the Feral Ghouls, including the new and powerful Feral Ghoul Reavers, into thinking you're one of them and be able to walk past them without worry of being attacked. Combine this with the tip above and you'll actually be able to get through the whole metro without getting attacked.
- NOTE: This walkthrough will assume that both Bots and Ghouls are hostile towards you. If they're not, don't attack them!
- A quick suggestion before we start off this level: take a Med-X to boost up your damage resistance if you're not utilizing the tips given above. The enemies here are extremely plentiful and dangerous.
- Head forward, raid the First Aid Box on the wall and then take the steps down to the subway tracks.
- There will likely be a fight going on between a Mister Gutsy and a ghoul. Finish them both off and then face eastwards.
- Up ahead there will be a huge battle between a bunch of ghouls and bots. If you see a Feral Ghoul Reaver over there, don't hesitate to fire a Mini Nuke at it to kill it while it's still at a distance. These new Ghouls make Death Claws look like Mole Rats.
- Once it is safe to proceed, follow the tracks and head south.
- When you see a door on the left side, head through it and follow the short path to another door.
- Open the next door and continue heading south down the tracks. A Glowing One will drop down from the ceiling so be on your toes.
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Pt 4 (Time: 8:24)
- Up ahead in the distance is a Presidential Metro Sentinel Unit. Meaning it's a VERY strong Sentry Bot. Whip out the Fat Man and send a Mini-Nuke its way to bring it down.
- Once it's dead, examine the remains and pick up the Main Fuse.
- Turn to face east and proceed forward into a room with another set of train tracks. As soon as you enter, turn right and head straight to find a First Aid Box, and more importantly, a Power Box on the south wall. Despite the electricity emanating from the Power Box, it's safe to touch so activate it to restore power.
- As soon as you do, two Sentry Bots will be released behind you. Take them both out and then check the room to the east for some stimpacks and ammo.
- Head back to the train, hop inside the front car and activate the Metro Console to take the train all the way to the Adams Air Force Base.
Adam's Air Force Base
- When you exit the train, head up the stairs and you'll come to a room with two doorways on the left side. The one closest to the stairs will let you sneak up on the enemies through the other doorway, provided that you can pick the average strength lock.
- TIP: There is also a terminal behind the locked door that will let you turn off the turrets.
- Once the hallway with the Enclave Soldiers is clear, follow the path, climb the stairs, and head through the doors to reach Adams Air Force Base.
- Head up the two flights of stairs and then follow your quest marker to find a Resupply Crate containing your orders for this mission and a new weapon called the Tesla Cannon.
- The Tesla Cannon is an extremely powerful weapon that uses Electron Charge Packs as ammo. It only fires one shot before it has to be reloaded, but its accuracy, power, and ammo type makes up for it (the only other weapon that uses Electron Charge Packs is the Gattling Laser, so unless you've been using that as your primary weapon, you should have plenty of ammo for the Tesla Cannon.)
- Let's test out your new toy by taking out the Mark VI Turrets that line the rooftops to the northeast. You don't even need to be in V.A.T.S to hit it. Just get your crosshair over the turret and fire off a shot.
- Keep heading northeast, taking out turrets as you go, and eventually a helicopter will come down and drop off a whole bunch of Enclave forces. Either use your Alien Blaster or Tesla Cannon to take them out.
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Pt 5 (Time: 8:30)
- From this point on I'm going to stop pointing out where enemies are located because they will be literally everywhere. Turn northeast from where the helicopter landed and head up the stairs.
- Drop down and start heading southeast. If a bunch of Enclave Soldiers gather around one of the helicopters, use the Tesla Cannon to blow the helicopters up.
- Once the area is relatively clear, head into the only hangar with its doors open. It should be the first one on the north side. You'll find four pens with Death Claws in three of them. You may be tempted to open them up thinking that you'll be able to control them with the device you had earlier. You're wrong. They're wild DeathClaws and will attack you if you let them out, so leave them be.
- Head out through the north exit of the hangar and start heading northeast.
- Continue to the end of the building on your right and crouch as you walk under the stairs to reach the next area.
- Ignore the enemies to your right and run straight ahead until you come to the remains of a broken down building. Head inside and use the rubble as cover as you fight off enemies from the east/northeast direction.
- When you get a chance, follow your quest marker north to find a tower. Climb the stairs and enter the door leading to the Air Control Tower.
- Climb the stairs in front of you, picking up the stimpacks from the First Aid Box along the way, until you come to a door leading to Adams Air Force Base.
- Enter the door and climb one last flight of stairs to reach the top of the tower. Raid the First Aid Boxes and then activate the Enclave Field Research Terminal.
- Select Open Mobile Platform Loading Ramp and you'll update your objectives. Time to head back down the stairs and return to ground level.
- Unfortunately, enemies will be waiting for you on your return. Take care of them and then start heading southeast towards that huge mobile building.
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Pt 6 (Time: 11:01)
- Climb up the stairs and enter the door leading to the Mobile Base Crawler.
- Walk up to the Repulsion Field Control Panel and press A to activate it. You can either turn it off with 80 points in science, blow it up with 50 points in Explosives, or just smash it. Smashing it will allow you to pass through it, but not without taking damage.
- Head north and eventually an alarm will start blaring. Be prepared to fight off lots and lots of Enclave as they start to flood the room.
- Once you clear the room, take some time to explore and turn off more repulsion fields. You'll find lots of ammo and other goodies that will prove to be useful.
- Once you finish up, head to the north end of the room and proceed up the stairs. Open the door at the top leading to the Launch Platform Base.
- From here I'll let you explore the base as you want. There are signs all over the place that will point you in the direction that you want to go. The two big places that you definitely want to hit are the Mainframe and the Armory.
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Pt 7 (Time: 8:05)
- Not only will the Mainframe allow you to unlock the doors that will take you outside and to the armory, but if you're able to hack the Robot Control Mainframe, you can actually shut down all of the Sentry Bots or even turn them against the Enclave if you have the Robotics Expert Perk.
- Follow the signs to the Armory and you'll find an enemy called the Armory Master. Kill him and you can pick up his Precision Gatling Laser.
- Inside the armory you'll be able to pick up all kinds of ammo, and most importantly, a new Alien Blaster along with tons of ammo for it.
- Once you feel that you've explored the base enough, follow the signs that point towards the Launch Pad. You'll either exit through a ladder or through a door that leads to Adams Air Force Base.
- TIP: The ladder exit will bring you closer to your destination.
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Good Ending (Time: 4:42)
- YouTube: Who Dares Wins Evil Ending (Time: 3:45)
- Whichever way you choose, fight your way over to your quest marker which will be pointed at a door leading to the Satellite Control Tower.
- Once inside, fight your way up to the top of the stairs and activate the Satellite Uplink Terminal. Here comes your good and evil choice for this quest. You can choose to either blow up the Citadel and turn your back on the Brotherhood, or you can blow up the Air Force Base and finally put an end to the Enclave.
- Make your choice and then head outside to board the incoming Vertibird and put an end to this quest.
- NOTE: If you decided to bomb the Citadel, be prepared to take out all of the surviving members of the Brotherhood once you land.
