About Broken Steel
Broken Steel is the third downloadable expansion released for Fallout 3. The first two, Operation Anchorage and The Pitt, were released in early 2009.The expansion takes place two weeks after the events of the main storyline. No matter players decided at the end of the game, in Broken Steel, the water purification system has been activated and Project Purity is in full swing. The Brotherhood of Steel are coordinating distribution of the clean water to the inhabitants of the Wasteland and the location has become a central hub of activity. The player is enlisted to assist The Brotherhood, who are still fighting with the Enclave over Project Purity.
Broken Steel introduces new perks and achievements, and raises the level cap from 20 to 30. With increased level comes tougher enemies like the Feral Ghoul Reaver and Super Mutant Overlord. Players will have access to new weapons like the Tesla Cannon and Heavy Incinerator to take out these new baddies, however.Official Site: Broken Steel Overview

Introduction to Broken Steel
- Broken Steel is the third downloadable content release for Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360 and PC.
- While Operation Anchorage and The Pitt were episodic add-ons that were separate from the main story of Fallout 3, Broken Steel actually builds on the ending to show an epilogue of what happens two weeks after the activation of Project Purity.
- In addition to the extra quests added with the Broken Steel DLC, downloading the add-on will also increase the level cap from 20 to 30, allowing characters that were maxed out to gain ten more levels and continue adding to their skills and perks.
- To reach the content of Broken Steel, you'll have to play through the entire game all the way up to the final main quest: "Take It Back". Finish the quest by either going in to the airlock yourself to activate the purifier, sending in Sentinel Lyons, or sending in your follower. After making your choice, watch the ending, and you'll find yourself waking from a coma two weeks later.

Two Weeks Later

- When you awaken, you'll be at the Citadel speaking with Elder Lyons. He'll bring you up to speed on what has happened in the two weeks that you've been out and what the repercussions were of you activating the purifier. Obviously your conversation here will differ depending on whether or not you sent in Sentinel Lyons, sent in your follower, activated the purifier yourself, and whether you inserted the Modified F.E.V.
- During your conversation with Elder Lyons, ask if there is anything you can do to help and you'll complete the quest "Take It Back!", and will be given the quest "Death From Above". Enjoy your first bunch of experience that you'll have received in a long time if you're like me and have been at level 20 for the last several months.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have any followers, make sure to talk to them and get them to follow you again. Otherwise they'll just wait here at the hospital forever.

Traveling to the Car Tunnel
- The first order of business is to talk to Scribe Rothchild. As usual, he can be found wandering around the Laboratory of the Citadel. Head outside to the courtyard, follow your quest marker to the door leading to the lab, then jump to the bottom level and search around for him.
- Once you find Rothchild, start talking to him and he'll lead you over to the map where he will brief you on the current status of the Enclave and more about what's been going on while you've been in a coma.
- After he finishes talking, you can talk to him some more to ask questions about Liberty Prime, the Purifier, and the Brotherhood, but you'll eventually want to head out of the Citadel and start heading towards the southwest corner of the wasteland, which is where the Rockland Car Tunnel is located.
- TIP: You're going to be facing off against lots of Enclave with lots of really hard hitting weapons so make sure you're well equipped with lots of ammo, decent armor, and a healthy amount of stimpacks.

- When you're ready, fast travel over to Girdershade or Tenpenny Tower and start making your way towards the southwestern corner.
- Once you reach the tunnel door, head inside and follow the Brotherhood member ahead until you reach Paladin Tristan.
- After finishing your conversation with Tristan, you can take some time to search the area and find a First Aid Kit with a couple of Stimpacks.
- Follow the Brotherhood out the door and get ready to escort Liberty Prime once again.
The Return of Liberty Prime
- YouTube: Death From Above Pt 3 (Time: 7:37)
- Once you're outside, you'll be thrust head first into a battle between the Enclave and the Brotherhood. Fortunately, you've got Liberty Prime on your side.
- Like in "Take It Back!", Liberty Prime will take care of all of your problems, so you don't really need to do anything. Just hang back and wait for the giant robot to clear a path.
- Liberty Prime will eventually break open a hole in the wall of the Enclave Base and will then shout out a warning of an imminent Chinese orbital strike. Back away from the robot immediately and get to a safe distance.
- You'll quickly find out why the name of this quest is "Death From Above" as poor old Liberty Prime will be blasted by several missiles from above; putting him out of commission for good.
- Find Paladin Tristan and talk with him. Your new objective will be to get inside the base and find out just what the heck that was that just took out Liberty Prime.
- Head up the rocks to the right and enter the hole in the wall to find a door that will take you inside the base.
- As soon as you enter the base, Enclave Soldiers will be waiting for you. Thankfully, you're backed up by your Brotherhood allies. As a general piece of advice for this area, focus more on getting cover than dealing damage as your friends are more than capable of holding their own and dealing out heavy damage to your enemies.
- Once you clear the first room, follow the Brotherhood members south through a winding tunnel that empties out into another large room full of Enclave Soldiers.
- TIP: There is a small room on the right side of the tunnel that holds a First Aid Box containing a few stimpacks if you need them.
- Clear the bottom floor of the room and then head up the stairs. Always keep your eyes facing upwards so you can see where more Enclave forces are standing as you make your way up the stairs.
- Kill the next group of Enclave Soldiers at the top of the stairs and then head through the door at the west side of the room.
- Head through the corridor and be ready to be ambushed by Enclave Soldiers in the room to the right. Take them out and then proceed through the door to the south.
- You'll arrive in another room with a staircase, but this time you'll be heading downstairs. Fight your way downwards and remember to let the Brotherhood members act as tanks to take the brunt of the fire.
- Once you reach the bottom level, head through the doorway to the south and follow the tunnel for a bit until you spot an Enclave Scientist in the open. He'll be guarded by two more Enclave Soldiers, so take them all out.
- YouTube: Death From Above Pt 4 (Time: 9:57)
- When the area is clear, head through the northern path and you'll reach yet another room with a staircase. Open the ammo boxes along the way for some energy weapon ammo.
- Head up the staircase and head north once you reach the second floor to find a room that is filled with Enclave taking cover behind pillars.
- If you have Plasma Grenades, this would be a nice time to use them since the Enclave tend to be grouped together pretty tightly and it's a fairly small room that they're in.
- Once the room is clear, head through the western doorway and follow the path to reach a terminal that has the data that you're looking for. Activate the terminal and choose "Request New Telemetry Data". Then select "Download Telemetry Data to User Device."
- Exit the terminal and head towards the door to the left. Before you head out, there is a First Aid Box on the eastern wall.
- Head through the doorway and take the stairs up, but be ready for Mark V Turrets at the landing of the first two set of stairs.
- Exit through the door at the top of the stairs to return to the Capital Wasteland.
- Now that you have the data, it's time to return to the Citadel and speak with Scribe Rothchild once again. Fast Travel over to the Citadel once you clear the immediate area of enemies.
- Rothchild will be located once again in the lab near the map. Talk to him about what happened and then present the data that you recovered.
- After you finish your conversation with Rothchild, he'll send you off to speak with Elder Lyons. Lyons can be found in the B Ring of the Citadel.
- Lyons will express his disappointment at the current state of events so cheer him up with some encouraging talk. He'll tell you that Paladin Tristan has an important job for you. After finishing up with Elder Lyons, you'll complete the quest.
