Fake following is a feature of social networking which allows users to appear as though they are following a fellow user, without having the user's information in their data stream or feed.
On August 25, 2008, social media service FriendFeed unveiled a beta design with fake following as one of the new test features. FriendFeed is the first major social network to add fake following to their feature set.
