History of the Marriott Company
In 1967 the first resort property was purchased by the Marriott Corporation. 1969 Marriott Corporation opens the first International Hotel in Acapulco. From this point on there were hotels opening and being acquired . In 1987 Marriott purchased the Residence Inn Company and began to create moderately priced hotels that would become the Fairfield Inn.
