Character Basics
- YouTube: Let's play Fable the lost chapters part 1 (Time: 10:21)
- Moral choices play a huge role in shaping your character. A great deal of Evil deeds will cause you to grow horns. Lots of Good deeds will give you a halo.
- Villagers and other Non-Player Characters (NPCs) will react differently depending on how you look. This is represented by the Attractiveness and Scariness statistics.
- All Spells can be useful in certain situations. There are two that are vastly more useful than any other. Physical Shield and Slow Time. Level them quickly if you wish to get the most out of the combat system.
- Combat Multipliers allow you to earn huge amounts of Experience. The Physical Shield spell is essential in obtaining a high combat multiplier. Each hit you absorb that removes Health will cause your Combat Multiplier to drop. Physical Shield prevents this.
- Red Meat, Fish and Carrots allow your character to gain Experience. Eating them when you have a high Combat Multiplier will give you more Experience. All food can be used to restore Health.
- People you can talk to glow green. The only exception is people who are in love with you. They will glow green and have hearts above their heads.
Before the Hero
- YouTube: Let's play Fable the lost chapters part 2 (Time: 8:46) | part 3
- Walk straight ahead. Talk to the little girl. She will ask you to find her teddy bear.
- Note: There are several deeds you can do to earn some coins. Each one includes a Good and an Evil option. This gives you an early look at how morality will affect your character later.
- Go to the end of the street. Take a right at the fence. You'll find a man and a woman behind the house.
- Talk to the man. He will offer you a bribe to keep his infidelity secret.
- Select Yes to get an Evil Point and 1 gold or select No to refuse.
- Tip: You can get a Good Point by telling his wife what he's done. You can also take his bribe for an Evil Point and rat him out for a Good Point.
- Head down into the town square. Look for the Weapon Shop (it has a sign with a sword on it.) You'll see a woman you can talk to standing out front.
- Talk to the woman. She will ask about her husband.
- Tell her about her cheating husband for a Good Point.
- Tip: Follow the woman if you want to see her chew her husband out.
- Head to the southeast corner of the map. Look for the fellow pacing back and forth. He will ask you to look over his stock while he goes to the bathroom.
- Simply stand by his boxes until he returns for Good Points. You can also smash them for Evil Points.
- Note: Smashing the boxes will earn you a gold.
- A young boy will come by and encourage you to break the boxes. Hit him for two Evil Points. You can also simply leave him alone.
- Head to the far east corner of town to find the small boy and the bully.
- Target and hit the bully to scare him off for Good Points. You can also target and hit the small boy for Evil Points. You get the teddy bear either way.
- Find the little girl. She has probably wandered into the town square.
- Return the Teddy Bear for Good Points.
- Return home and speak to your father. He will scold you for Evil deeds and commend you for Good deeds. He will also give you 1 gold for each Good deed you did.
- Head back to the town square. Look for the man with the mustache standing outside the Tavern.
- Talk to the Trader. Purchase the chocolates.
- Head to the pulsing yellow dot on your map. This marks where your sister is.
- Talk to your sister.
- Give your sister the chocolates.
- Leave the field.
- Return to your house.
Guild Introduction
- YouTube: Let's play Fable the lost chapters part 4 (Time: 9:41)
- Head out toward the Guild Master. He is marked by the yellow dot on your minimap.
- Note: There are five red Cooking Apples on the ground. Pick them up. You'll need them later.
- Note: There are two apprentices in the south courtyard. They are arguing over who is the fastest apprentice in the Guild. You can challenge the apprentice and attempt to beat his time of 50 seconds. To do this, you must run directly to the demon door following this route:
- Run away from the apprentice and take a right through the hedges. Run straight ahead. Stick to the right side of the bridge. Take a right after the bridge. Run past the Guild Master. Run through the next exercise area. Run across the small stone bridge. Turn around immediately after you touch the other side. Run back to the apprentice the way you came. If you are quick enough, you can beat his record. You can try multiple times if you don't get it the first time.
- Talk to the Guild Master to start your training.
- Target the dummy. Hit it seven times.
- Draw your stick. Target the dummy. Hit it another seven times.
- Draw the experience orb towards you or run over it to pick it up.
- Head to the Guild Woods in the east.
- Move to the right end of the woods to find the beetles.
- Kill the beetles using your stick.
- Tip: Swing freely rather than targeting the beetles. They tend to bunch up. Swinging freely will allow you to hit more than one at a time.
- Return to the Guild Master.
- Select No.
- Head to the servant's quarters in the northeast corner.
- Talk to the servant girl inside. She will ask you to find some red apples.
- Speak to her again to turn in the apples you found earlier.
- Return to the Guild Master. Begin your next phase of training.
Guild Training
- YouTube: Let's play Fable the lost chapters part 5 (Time: 8:07)
- Race Whisper to the Guild Master. He is waiting for you at the training grounds.
- Speak to the Guild Master. You will receive the Iron Longsword.
- Draw the sword. Hit Whisper seven times.
- Target Whisper. Block five of her attacks.
- Target Whisper again. Hit her until the fight stops.
- Note: Try to hit Whisper twice in a row. This will allow you to perform a Flourish attack. Flourish attacks deal extra damage and cannot be blocked.
- Note: You can take your melee combat test now. If you score an A+, you will earn an Iron Katana. You can try multiple times if you need to.
- Head over to the Archery Range. Speak to the Guild Master to receive the Yew Longbow.
- Shoot the three stationary Targets.
- Zoom in. Hit as many targets as you can in one minute. Harder shots (longer pulls) earn more points. Try to balance accuracy, powerful shots and firing rate. Aim just to the right of the castle wall in the back. Wait for the dummies to move into your line of fire.
- Talk to the trainer who comes by. He will allow you to take the archery test. A score of at least 200 will earn you the Yew Crossbow.
- Head over to the east. Speak to the Guild Master.
- Target one of the dummies. Hit it with Lightning.
- Jump from target to target. Hit as many dummies with Lightning as you can in 30 seconds.
- Select Play.
- Talk to the trainer who comes by. He will allow you to take the Will test. Use Lightning on as many dummies as you can in 30 seconds. A score of at least 13 hits will earn you a Will Potion and a Resurrection Phial.
- Tip: Try not to hit the trainer.
- Go speak to Whisper.
- Head into the Guild Woods.
- Shoot the bandits with your bow or your Lightning.
- Leave the Guild Woods.
- YouTube: Let's play Fable the lost chapters part 6 (Time: 9:56)
- Stop by the trainer outside the Guild Hall. He will ask you to shoot the sparrows around the guild. Only do this if you want some Evil Points. Use your bow to shoot the birds in the trees.
- Use this time to redo any tests you failed.
- Speak to the Guild Master. Select Yes if you're ready to move on.
