Fable 2 See the Future

  • Lionhead Studios announced on April 30, 2009 that Fable II's next section of downloadable content, entitled "See the Future", will be available on May 12, 2009. The new content includes new quests, monsters and items, a Colosseum, and alter egos for the player's dog. Peter Molyneux also hinted at a connection to the next Fable game, saying, "... it would be pretty poor to say 'See the Future' if it didn't have some connection."Kotaku: Fable II See the Future's Future Foretold (April 30, 2009)
  • New Quests

    • The Ghosts of the Snowglobe
      • The small gathering of houses inside the snowglobe was once a real Albion town. The inhabitants are now ghosts, cursed to reside in torment until set free.
    • The Cursed Knight
  • See the Future

See the Future introduces a number of new gameplay elements to the game, as well as two new quests. The vendor Murgo sells a number of interesting items, including a potion that can transform your canine companion into a new breed. There are also some new items, hairstyles, tattoos, hero expressions, and even a new back flip trick to teach your dog.

The Colosseum is an all-new battle arena that surpasses even The Crucible in the main game. Players can test their skills and earn valuable prizes to pad their arsenal.Official Site: See the Future of Albion

See the Future is more story-driven than Knothole Island, the downloadable expansion released in January 2009. It ties up many loose ends that were left dangling in the stories of Fable and Fable 2. Theresa's story will be expanded upon, and players will also be clued in about the possible future of the Fable storyline. The expansion features updated gameplay mechanics, new creatures and "nice little gimmicks and tricks."

Knothole Island was developed very quickly and made available to players very shortly after the release of Fable 2. See the Future, on the other hand, was created at a more leisurely pace, giving the development team more time to refine and polish the content. In an interview with IGN, Molyneux stated that it contains "some of the most beautiful levels that we've got."IGN: Fable II - GDC 09: Peter Molyneux Video Interview (Time: 3:50)

  • Fable 3?

Although rumors about Fable 3 have already begun making the rounds, Molyneux hinted that there is still more to come for Fable 2. Since Lionhead has successfully created a world that players enjoy exploring, it's worthwhile to continue expanding upon it.IGN: Fable II - GDC 09: Peter Molyneux Video Interview (Time: 3:50)
