Knothole Island Walkthrough
- After you obtain the Knothole Island DLC(800 MS Points), you'll be prompted to begin a new quest - to reach it, travel to Bowerstone Market. From there, you'll want to head to the docks and speak to Gordon. NOTE: This guide assumes you have either not beaten Fable 2, or retained your dog if you did. If you have beaten Fable 2 and didn't choose the ending where you keep your dog, see the Bringing Back Your Dog section of this guide for information on how to resurrect him.
Knothole Island's Big Freeze
- Enemies Encountered: Banshee, Beetle, Hobbe, Shadow Creature
- Quest Rewards: 150 Renown, Ice Key

Getting the Ice Key
- When you talk to Gordon to accept this quest, he'll give you some items to urge you into investigating Knothole Island - One Burned Calorie Potion, Solar Shielding Spectacles, Knothole Island Vol. I, Assassin Gloves, and Knothole Island Boots.
- Equip whatever you want, then follow the glowing trail to reach Knothole Island. If you've already beaten Fable 2, you should be able to fast travel to a location closer to Knothole Island before you begin manually walking there. When you arrive, speak to the Chieftain of Knothole Island to gain a new objective - you need to head into the shrine and dig up the Ice Key.
- Follow the glowing trail to find the shrine, and be ready to fight some Shadow Creatures and Ice Beetles on your way. When you arrive, your dog will find a Dig Spot - use the D-Pad to select your shovel and dig up the Ice Key. Head back the way you came, and you'll encounter a Banshee.
- To defeat the Banshee, defeat the shadowy creatures surrounding it, then wail on it before more of the small creatures appear. You can also use your ranged weapon to deal her a damaging shot to the head. When the Banshee is finished, head past the river and follow the glowing trail to find the entrance to the Ice Shrine. Use your Ice Key to unlock the door, and step inside.
Ice Shrine
- You'll face off against some Hobbes in here, and at the end of the area is a chasm that you can vault down into some water. Swim up and check to the left around the corner to find a Dive Spot, then head up the stairs.
- Pull the lever before you to burn the block of ice in your way, and head right - the gate will shut, and Shadow Creatures will appear. Kill them all, then cros the room to the other door. Head downstairs into the area with the Flit Switch - when it's blue, you'll use Melee attacks; red, Will; and yellow, Ranged attacks. If you're having trouble with the order, follow this sequence when attacking it: Melee, Ranged, Will, Melee, Will, Ranged, Melee, Will, Ranged, Melee, Melee.
- The rest of the room is now unlocked - head over to the other side and pull the lever to melt the block of ice in your path, then head to the large room by backtracking up the stairs, and fight the new wave of Shadow Creatures waiting for you. Head through the door on the opposite side of the room, and move down the tunnel until you reach an electric fence and four switches.
- Break the ice on the right side of the ledge and vault down, then move towards the lever and pull it to melt some ice. Walk forward to the ladder and climb it, then break the ice nearby to find the Knothole Island Vol. II. Vault down, and return to the area with the four switches.
- There's two ways to get through here - either hit the far left switch, then the one beside it, or use the Time Control spell while moving forward to warp through the barriers here. Head back to the large room, fight off the wave of Shadow Creatures, and after you defeat them all, a block of ice on the platform will melt, revealing a lever. Pull it to melt even more ice, then head down the path and grab the items from the treasure chests you thawed out - Knothole Island Trousers and Bandit Gloves, to be specific.
- The Shadow Creatures will begin resembling the Balverines more from this point on, and you'll need to fight more as you enter the next area. Check to the right after you defeat all of the Shadow Creatures to find a spot where you can vault down - check to the right and walk across the thin ledge to reach a treasure chest with a Feeble Scar Vanishing Potion inside before heading through the tunnel and activating the Sun Totem. Time to head back and speak with the Chieftain.
Return from Ice Shrine
- Head down the path, and when you reach the large tower, walk around to find Knothole Island Vol. VII. Right before you hit the water there's an area on the left where a chest awaits you. Head down the dry path, and when you get to the bridge(it's above you), head up the path on the left to find Knothole Island Vol. VI behind a stair. Head up the path to the Chieftain, and speak with him.
Knothole Island's Huge Heat
- Enemies Encountered: Beetle, Hobbe, Hollow Man, Hollow Man Champion
- Quest Rewards: 750 Renown, Sun Key
- YouTube: Knothole Island Huge Heat Part 1 (Time: 10:38) | Part 2 | Part 3
- Once you complete the Knothole Island's Big Freeze Quest, return to Bowerstone and a new quest will appear. You can now fast travel to Knothole Island, so do so now and talk to the Chieftain again.
- You now need to find the Sun Key, so let's get started.
Getting the Sun Key
- Follow the glowing trail until you come to an area around a canyon with two boulders on either side of the path. There's a chance you might see some Hobbes here, so kill them off if you do, and walk around the aforementioned spot until your dog finds a Dig Spot.
- After you dig up your treasure, head to the trees behind the boulder to find Knothole Island Vol. V, then continue following the glowing trail to find another Dig Spot that holds the Sun Key.
- Head down the path a bit to find a small graveyard where you can obtain Knothole Island Vol. VIII behind one of the tombstones. Backtrack to the tower from the Big Freeze quest and use the Sun Key to unlock the door to the Sun Shrine.
Sun Shrine
- Head downstairs, and check the chest on the left to find Knothole Blue Dye. Head into the next room - it contains a Flit Switch, but ignore it for now and open the chest next to it. Collect your treasure, then stand in the black circle and shoot the Flit Switch; look to your right, now, and hit it with your melee weapon, and the Flit Switch will open a door. head through the door to find an Expression Statue.
- Use the Chicken Expression on the statue to unlock it, then shoot the switch that appears. Run to the door you entered from and hit the switch with your melee weapon, and another door will open, revealing another Expression Statue. Use the Laughing Expression on it, then use a spell on the switch, head back to the door you entered from and hit it with your melee weapon, then shoot it in front of the door on the left.
- Enter the newly unlocked door, and head downstairs - check to your right to find a chest tucked away down here. Head to the other side of the hill in the next area to fight a swarm of Beetles, then head to the next room. Open the chest to find a Flame's Curse Augment, then work your way to the room filled with water. Don't go too far in - spikes are going to fly up and hit the switch for you. Turn and shoot the switch, then follow it and shoot it two more times.
- Head across the room and upstairs where you'll encounter another switch(see the pattern here?), and use a ranged attack, a melee attack, and a spell to unlock the door. Open the chest and then enter the door to fight some Hobbes, then move towards the left and open the chest in the Hobbe encampment to find a Knothole Knight Shirt. There's a lever here as well, so use it.
- There's more Hobbes to fight in the next area, and some boxes near the entrance. Break the boxes, and step on the pressure plate that's revealed to open the door. Check the walls for a crack, and break through it to find Knothole Island Vol. III, then follow the path and open the chest you find.
- Head downstairs and through the door into the next area - you'll need to swim here, so check on the East side of the room to find a Dive Spot before continuing. Head upstairs, avoiding the fire, and step on the pressure plate to open the gate nearby.
- Enter the area behind the gate you just opened, and use the lever - a Flit Switch will fly out. Shoot it behind the barrier, then sprint through the sections while avoiding fire until you reach a door on your right. Use the lever to open another gate, and step on the pressure plate you find.
- Open the chest here to find Knothole Knight Gauntlets, then enter the next area and kill the two waves of Hollow Men - once they're defeated, use the Storm Totem. You'll be teleported out.
Return from Sun Shrine
- Around the bend in the path is Knothole Island Vol. IX, so be sure to grab it - it's hiding behind ruins. Head down the path and dive into the water, checking on the right for a Dive Spot. Check the building next to where you found the Dive Spot to obtain Knothole Dark Red Dye, then swim across the small lake to village and talk to the Chieftain.
Knothole Island Drowning
- Enemies Encountered: Banshee, Hobbe, Hollow Man, Hollow Man Champion, Shadow Creature
- Quest Rewards: 3000 Renown, Storm Key
- YouTube: Knothole Island Drowning Part 1 (Time: 10:18) | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5
- Once again, after you return to Bowerstone, you'll be notified of a new quest on Knothole Island. Fast travel there and speak to the Chieftain again to accept the quest.
Getting the Storm Key
- Follow the glowing trail to a cliff and swim to the right - you'll see a path on the right. From where you see the path(while in the water), swim to the right to find a Dive Spot. Once you grab the treasure, head to the chest and open it for more loot, then head up the hill and dig up the Storm Key.
- Head back and swim across to another trail, where you'll encounter some Balverines. Use Time Control to make them easier to deal with if necessary, then head through the village and swim across the lake, then head up the trail and defeat the Hobbe ambush awaiting you. Look next to the waterfall on the left to find another Dive Spot, then use the Storm Key to unlock the Storm Shrine.
Storm Shrine
- Check behind the pillars to find Knothole Island Vol. IV, then head through the cave and go upstairs. Defeat the Shadow Creatures you encounter, and hit the Flit Switch they were guarding. Follow the switch and kill any enemies you run across, then hit the switch again - it'll open a room containing more enemies. Clear them out, hit the switch again and be sure to open the chest here to obtain Knothole Knight Armour. Exit the room, take a left and head down the path.
- Go upstairs to find another Flit Switch - vault down and shoot it from below, then follow it to the area you passed earlier. Kill the enemies you encounter and hit the switch, then open the chest here. Head back and kill off any creatures you missed as you work your way back to the stairs, then go up them and hit the switch to unlock the door - vault down the hole in the floor to the next area.
- As soon as you land, turn and swim through a doorway to get the Untapped Potential Augment from the Dive Spot, then head back and swim under the waterfall. Head upstairs into the next room - there's a hidden door on the right. Hit the wall with the switch to destroy it and grab the High-Heels Height Potion from the chest you find.
- You'll be attacked by Hollow Men and a Hollow Man Champion when you attempt to head through the next door - mop the floor with them, then head to the next area.
- Look to the left to find a chest that holds Knothole Green Dye, then head across the way to the ladder. Climb it and hit the Flit Switch, then vault to the next platform and hit it again - continue doing this until it goes in a vent. Head back down to the main floor and hit the Flit Switch again, then shoot it and it'll head towards a gate - follow it.
- Look for a chest in a darkened area above the stairs to find an Energy Drain Augment, then climb the ladder and take a right - walk through the wall to find some Beef Jerky. Head back to the intersection and kill the Hollow Men you encounter, then head straight.
- You'll reach a room with water - when you do, head to the next door and turn to find a Flit Switch. You'll need to do the following combination of attacks on the switch as quickly as possible: Ranged, Will, Ranged, Ranged, Will. The door will unlock - enter and use the lever.
- Head back to the intersection and take a left. Stand near the locked door and use the appropriate attack on the switch that pops up until the door is unlocked then head inside and use the lever at the far end. Head back to the intersection to encounter a Banshee - defeat it, then head straight to the now-unlocked entrance. Check the chest for a Knothole Island Helmet, then aim for one of the exploding barrels and shoot it with your ranged weapon to blow the door open.
- You'll encounter a Troll - remember to attack the glowing spots on its body, using Roll to avoid its attacks. When the Troll is dead, a door will unlock. Head through the door, down the tunnel and use the Ice Totem to be teleported to the marker.
Return from Storm Shrine
- You'll be ambushed by a Banshee - kill it, then look to right for a large rock. Check around the rock to find Knothole Island Vol. X, then go talk to the Chieftain. He's not in his office this time, and you'll have a choice to make - you can either join with Jessica, or with the Chieftain. The Chieftain offers you 10,000 gold, but the decision is yours to make.
- Congratulations! You've completed the Knothole Island DLC for Fable 2!
Bringing Back Your Dog - Cheet-Ur's Crypt
- Did you already complete Fable 2, and choose to sacrifice your dog for the greater good? There's a way to bring your four-legged friend back in the Knothole Island DLC - see below for more information.
- YouTube: Fable 2 - Bring Your Dog Back To Life (Time: 2:10)
- If you lost your dog, you can bring him back by visiting Cheet-Ur's Crypt, which is north of the Chieftain's office - look around for a note that tells you about a powerful mage named Cheet-Ur. It seems he was a dog person, and his crypt is meant to help those that have lost their own.
- To bring back your dog, find an NPC and get them to follow you to Cheet-Ur's Crypt - the doors of the crypt will open. Lead them inside, then head outside and use the lever - the NPC will be sacrificed, and when the doors open again, your dog will rejoin you on your adventures.
- NOTE: As soon as you get your dog back, he'll find a Dig Spot just outside the crypt where you can dig up the Bow Wow Collar.
