  • Excitebike 64 is a motorcycle racing game for the N64. It is based on the popular Excitebike for the NES. The game featured six known dirt cyclists racing on several different tracks. Several popular review Web sites gave the game an above-average rating, and Excitebike received a rating of 88 on Metacritic.

  • Gameplay

    There are several modes in the game: Season, Exhibition and Time Trial. Most of the courses aren't available until they're unlocked through Season Mode. In Season Mode, players start off on the 80cc circuit playing five races. After finishing first in points, players move up to the next level, then eventually the next difficulty. In Exhibition Mode, players can practice on any of the courses that were unlocked in Season Mode. In Time Trial Mode, players can try to post their fastest time as possible.

  • Cyclists

    There are six cyclists in the game, each with his or her own strengths and weaknesses.

    • Jim Rivers: Perhaps the most balanced character in the game.
    • Ricky Stern: Very poor velocity, but has great hangtime and cornering.
    • Sarah Hill: Cornering and boosts are slightly better than Stern, but just a little bit weaker hangtime.
    • Bobby Malone: Great speed, but poor in everything else.
    • Nigel York: The best speed in the game and an average jump, but very poor landing and cornering abilities.
    • Vicky Steele: Nearly all even stats, except a slightly better turboing ability but a poorer landing ability.
