Excepter is an experimental group from Brooklyn known for their unconventional stage antics and their mostly improvised music.

History
Excepter came together in 2002 in Brooklyn. Originally the group consisted of DJ's John Fell Ryan, Dan Hougland, and husband-and-wife duo Calder Martin and Caitlin Cook. Macrae Semans, another DJ was added in 2003. The next year Semans left the group and was replaced by Nathan Corbin.Ryan and Hougland were both DJ's from the New York club scene were interested in pushing the boundaries of house music by melding it with experimental and improvisational music.
