American Idol top 10 contestant Brooke White performed the song "Every Breath You Take" on the March 24, 2008 episode of the hit televised singing competition. White played the piano for the first half of the song and was then joined by the house band.

• Randy: "Very interesting song choice, great song. I thought the front part of it was pretty good. I like that you started and then said wait a minute, this is not right and started again. When you got the the bridge and the out-chorus, I did not love the arrangement with the band coming in. I would have loved it if you would have stayed without the band and just made it more interesting on your own."

• Paula: "I enjoyed this performance so much more than last weeks. This season we really wanted contestants who are unique and have their own niche, and you do. You are consistent and this is great."

• Simon: "I totally agree with Randy. If you would have just stayed on the piano, that would have sounded much more cool. The minute it picked up tempo and the band joined in it sounded old-fashioned. Definitely good enough to keep you in for another week, but you just have to work this out."
