Everson Griffen is a defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings. The team drafted him in the 2010 NFL Draft with the 100th pick overall, and second selection made in the fourth round. He played his College Ball at the University of Southern California and his high school ball at Agua Fria High school in his hometown of Avondale, Arizona. He is the highest rated player from the State of Arizona since Terrell Suggs. http://www.nfldraft101.com/profiles/159503/Everson_Griffen.jsp
The Book on Griffen is he doesn’t have a lot of experience. He only started at USC for one season, and some scouts may hold that against him. Others view him as a player that has barely scratched his potential, and has jumped up NFL Draft Boards given his strength in off season workouts. http://www.nfldraft101.com/profiles/159503/Everson_Griffen.jsp
Many NFL Draft pundits have him ranked in the top five of DE prospects, and somewhere in the top 75 of overall prospects http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-19045-NFL-Draft-Examiner~y2009m12d16-2010-NFL-Draft-top-ten-DE-prospects He is expected to be drafted in the first two round of April’s Draft. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/TSX/2010_DE
His negatives beyond his lack of experience are inconsistency, and immaturity. He was charged for Breach of Peace at a Forth of July party, although charges were later dropped. He was not very productive over the second half of his final year at USC, and many feel that he should have returned to school to further his development. http://www.nfldraft101.com/profiles/159503/Everson_Griffen.jsp
Everson has all the skills and strength to be a dominant DE in the NFL, the problem sees to be he has these things only when he wants to have them. He seems to be leaving school a little early to take advantage of a NFL Rookie Salary cap that surely will be part of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and its players. Many scouts are wondering if adding a NFL size paycheck will improve his inconsistency and immaturity.
Most NFL Mock Draft have him being selected in the bottom third of the first round, or early on in the second. http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/index.cfm
