  • Evening Gowns are a formal women's dress often worn to special occasions and social events. They range in style and fabric and are often worn to black tie events, proms, and weddings. Prior to the evening gown there was the ball gown, which a dress worn to event by invitation only. The gown was full skirted and considered to be the most formal attire for the female.
