Eternity II

Eternity II is an edge-matching puzzle game created by British inventor Christopher Monckton. Upon its retail release in 2007 it was announced that a $2 million USD prize would be awarded to the first person who solves it. Possible solutions are to be submitted by mail.

History

The first version of the puzzle, Eternity, was launched in June 1999. It was solved by Alex Selby and Oliver Riordan. They designed a computer search algorithm that was able to find weaknesses in the puzzle design and were awarded one million pounds for their efforts.

Monckton then enlisted the help of Selby and Riordan to develop a second version, Eternity II, so that the puzzle would not be vulnerable to the same problem-solving and be even more difficult to solve.
