Esteban German

  • Major League Baseball infielder Esteban German currently plays for the Kansas City Royals.

    German originally signed as an undrafted amateur free agent with the Oakland Athletics on July 4, 1996. In 1998 he joined the Athletics' minor league affiliates for his first few years of conditioning.

    On May 5, 2002, German was called up to make his MLB debut with the Athletics, playing in a total of nine games that season before being returned to the minors. He split his next two seasons between the Athletics and their minor league teams, playing in a total of 36 games over two years.

    German was granted free agency following the 2004 season and signed with the Texas Rangers on December 1, 2004. He only played five games for the Rangers in 2005, before he was traded during the off season to the Kansas City Royals on December 8, 2005.

    German earned a full roster spot with the Royals, playing in 106 games in 2006 and 121 games in 2007. He is expected to continue this playing time in 2008.
