  • Career

ESG's first full-length album, Come Away With ESG, was hailed by Allmusic as "a musical snapshot of post-groovy, pre-fresh New York City." But the group is probably better known not just for their work--which influenced future acts like Salt N Pepa and TLC--but also for the list of artists who have sampled their beats.

Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, the Beastie Boys, Jay-Dee, as well as TLC have used ESG's beats on their albums.

In 2007, ESG drummer Valerie Scroggins was indicted for workers' compensation fraud. Later that year, the band announced they would play their final concert at the Estrojam festival.
