A statue of Ernie Davis exhibiting historical mistakes was unveiled at Syracuse University on September 13, 2008. The legendary football player holds a helmet that differs from the one he wore and his jersey and shoes display a Nike logo. University authorities asked Bruno Lucchesi, the 82-year-old sculptor, to work based on a photograph. They are now negotiating the changes that need to be introduced in order to make the figure historically accurate.
