The 1991 Halloween-themed comedy Ernest Scared Stupid was the fifth movie to feature Jim Varney's "Ernest P. Worrell" character. The movie was directed by John Cherry III.
Plot Summary

While helping some friends build a treehouse, Ernest accidentally releases a troll who had been imprisoned years earlier. It's up to him to stop the troll from claiming five victims and unleashing a terrible troll army on the town.
