Erin Rohwer is a 27-year-old high school English teacher that was arrested at her home in Des Moines, Iowa on Monday, January 12, 2009 for allegedly having sex with one of her 18-year-old male students. Although both were of legal age, it is against Iowa state law for a school employee and a student to have sexual contact. Rohwer was head of the English department at Dowling Catholic High School and had been an employee there since 2003. On January 12, 2009 Erin Rohwer was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, a Class D felony that has a maximum sentence of 5 years and a fine of $750-$7500.
