  • Erik Cole is a American professional hockey player, currently playing for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League.

    Cole was traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the Hurricanes on March 4, 2009, as part of a three-team deal that sent Patrick O'Sullivan and a second round draft pick to the Oilers.

  • NHL Career

    Cole was drafted out of Clarkston University in the 1998 NHL draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. He spent two seasons with the Hurricanes International Hockey League affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones, before making his NHL debut in 2001. He continued to play with the Hurricanes, scoring a career high 30 goals and 29 assists during the 2005-06 regular season. Late in that season Cole was placed on |injured reserve after breaking a vertebrae in his neck. He ended up missing much of the playoffs. Cole was able to return for the last two games of the Stanley Cup Finals, where the Hurricanes defeated the Edmonton Oilers.
