Erickson Beamon is a collaboration in jewelry design between three Detroit natives - Karen Erickson, Eric Erickson, and Vicki Beamon. The line consists of unique handcrafted beads, crystals, semi precious stones, leather, gold and diamonds used to create meticulously hand assembled pieces of jewelry.http://www.ericksonbeamon.com/
Since their launch in 1983, the design firm has deviated only slightly from mainstay articles consisting of necklaces, earrings, and brooches to introduce a chandelier and an eyewear line. They have also collaborated with other designers such as Stacey Bendet to create new and diverse looks and have designed custom pieces for fashion houses such as Givenchy, Dior, Chanel, Anna Sui, and Ungaro.http://whatshaute.com/index.php/tag/erickson-beamon/
History
The brand of Erickson Beamon was born out of necessity as designers and hometown friends Karen Erickson and Vicki Beamon worked with New York artists on assembling looks for catwalk shows. Unable to find anyone to lend them jewelry for those shows, the duo resorted to stringing glass beads on suede to compliment the designs and complete the look. Little did they know that this stroke of creativity would soon be classified as the hippest jewelry around.http://pressroom.target.com/pr/news/fashion/accessories/erikson-beamon-bio.aspx
The Look
Their trademark and legacy has become the coveted bead necklace but over time many additional elements have found their way into Erickson Beamon designs. There are many interesting references to the Renaissance as well as Native American bead work within their profile. Their work is always closely linked to the fashion runways and an honorary retrospective initiated to mark their 20 year anniversary in 2003, has traveled as far as Hong Kong.http://www.modemonline.com/fashion/mini-web-sites/fashion-brands/references/ericksonbeamon
