Erick Dampier started his competitive career at Lawrence County High School in Monticello, Mississippi, winning two state championships. After that Dampier moved to the college choosing Mississippi State University, but he played only 2 years and in 1996 NBA was drafted by Indian a Pacers as the tenth overall pick. At Indiana in his rookie season he played 72 games, starting 21 of them scoring an averages of 5.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. In 1997 Dumpier and Duane Ferrell were traded to the Golden State Warriors for Chris Mullin. At Golden State Dumpier played 7 years as starting center of the team.His best season was in 2003/04, the center of the Warriors finished the season with an averages of 12.3 points, 12 rebounds and 1.85 blocks per game.
